Call Meeting to Order. II. Approve Minutes of December 10, 1992. • III. Discuss Old Business. IV. Discuss New Business (Design Review Committee Building Plans). APPROVED APRIL 14, 1992 • MINUTES HENRY SHELTON SANFORD MEMORIAL LIBRARY AND MUSEUM ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MARCH 10, 1992 Present: Myra Bales Don Vincent Robert Mann Dennis Connor Erma Dangleman Elizabeth Gallant Others in Attendance: Mike Kirby, Recreation & Parks Director Alicia Clarke, Curator Yvette Hartsfield, Secretary Meeting was held at the museum. Meeting was called to order at 5:15 P.M. The Chairman and the Curator presented the building addition floor plan that has been agreed upon by the Design Review Committee. The Board discussed the floor plan and commented on the following items: 1. The two walls extending out past the windows on the north side of the building need to be removed for security and maintenance. 2. It was suggested that metal roll -up doors or pocket doors be used to secure the lobby entrance to the Chase gallery. 3. Concern was expressed regarding fire suppression. 4. Security and storage of the artifacts in the museum during construction was discussed. 5. It was suggested that the darkroom include space for a small refrigerator. 6. The doors to the galleries need to be large enough for large items to fit through. 7. It was suggested that a large door be placed on the west side so large items may be brought into the museum. 8. The folding wall in the meeting room is not necessary. 9. The hall between the office and the lobby may need to be enlarged for movement of large objects. The Board was shown the proposed elevation for the addition. There were no comments. • The Board discussed changing the name of the Museum from the "Henry Shelton Sanford Memorial Library and Museum" to the "Sanford Museum." Advisory Board Meeting March 10, 1992 Page 2 Don Vincent moved that the Advisory Board recommend to the City Commission that the original library and the west wing remain the "Henry Shelton Sanford Memorial Library and Museum" and that the remainder of the original building and the addition be named the "Sanford Museum" effective upon the reopening of the Museum after construction is completed. Robert Mann seconded. Motion carried by unanimous vote. The Chairman asked if there were changes or deletions to the minutes of December 10, 1992. Erma Dangleman moved that the minutes be accepted with no changes. Elizabeth Gallant seconded. Motion carried by unanimous vote. The Chairman suggested the Board meet every month until the building project is complete. The Board agreed. The next meeting was set for Tuesday, April 14, 1992 at 5:15 P.M. The Board discussed the need to encourage the participation of • community groups in the landscaping of the new museum through the donation of trees and plants. The Curator stated there is no money for a rendering or model of the new building and suggested the Board pursue the donation of these services. The Chairman read a letter from the Seminole County Historic Commission regarding the dedication of a State of Florida Historic Marker on the home site of Dr. Seth French in front of Sanford Middle School at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 12, 1992.
