Organizational Meeting
April 19, 1989

Meeting opened by Jim Jernigan.
City Manager, Frank Faison welcomed members of Cemetery Advisory
Committee. He stated that a large donation had been given to the
City for improvements of the cemetery. Project now on hold until
water affluent system is installed at the cemetery this year.
A Jim Jernigan reviewed the City's procedures on handling the
Committee meetings re: minutes & agenda's. He informed the
members of the Sunshine Law and informed them to file a financial
disclosure form with Seminole County at the Clerk of the Court's
office.
Orientation by Jim Jernigan
1) Reviewed City Ordinance #2005 creating the Cemetery Advisory
Committee.
A) Terms of office for members have beenn ^. -t up as follows:
Bill Welborn - 3 years
Kim Dent - 2 years
Bernard Mitchell - 1 year
J.P. Stevens - 1 year
B) Reviewed the duties and expenditures of the Cemetery
Committee.
C) "Proposed" by -laws were distributed to the Committee.
Committee to review and discuss by -laws at later meeting
before they are adopted.

D) Election of Officers.
Chairman - Bill Welborn nominated by J.P. Stevens.
Motion seconded. Motion carried.
Vice Chairman - Kim Dent nominated by Jim Jernigan.
Motion seconded. Motion carried.
Review of Properties
Cemetery located on W. 25th Street. Municipal Cemetery is
broken down into two main sections; Lakeview & Evergreen.
There is also area fenced off in back area that has no
records of burial.
Options for Future
1) Set goals & objectives for Cemetery Advisory Committee.
for present and 5 -10 years from now.
Immediate Needs
A) Landscape project.
Donation given to City to update landscaping of
isCemetery. Some paving of the streets should be done.
B) Take inventory of remaining space available for sale.
C) Take inventory of unclaimed cemetery spaces.
Cemetery Revenue
Spaces sell for $350.00 per space. Spaces currently
selling are under perpetual care. City charges $18.00 for
annual care of spaces. Owners can also purchase perpetual
care.
Cemetery Maintenance
Cemetery maintenance is contracted out to Contractor. He
does daily maintenance and also handles all complaints on
maintenance.
Mr. Jernigan suggested that Committee meet again on 4 -29-
89 at 3:00 p.m. At this meeting he will take members to view the
cemetery.
There being no further business, meeting was adjourned at
4:00 p.m.
