Minutes of July 25, 2000 were read and approved.
OLD BUSINESS:
Repairs to brick building: Howard reported that repairs had been completed to the brick
building at a cost of $19,988. The exterior was pressure cleaned, painted, bricks repointed
and roof replaced. The interior walls and ceiling were removed and the building was
treated for termites. This building will not be utilized.
NEW BUSINESS:
Planting trees on Crawford Property and removing declining trees in Page Jackson and
Lakeview: Approximately 25 trees (holly & crape myrtle) were planted on the border
between Crawford property and Section E; 2nd Addn. Evergreen. The City hired a
contractor to cut down the declining trees in Page Jackson and Lakeview.
Report on renewal of landscape maintenance contract: Bon Terre has extended their
landscape maintenance contract effective 10 -1 -00 in amount of $53,016.19. There will be
no increase in cost. Bon Terre's contract can not be extended beyond Sept. 30, 2001,
therefore the landscape maintenance of the cemetery will need to be rebid in Sept. 2001.
Report on City ordinance eliminating term limits of Cemetery Committee members:
• Linda reported that a City ordinance was passed eliminating term limits of all city
board /committees members. All members can now serve as long as they wish.
Vandalism theft and illegal dumping in Cemetery: Several incidents of theft of flowers
and benches, vandalism and illegal dumping were reported. All incidents have been
reported to the police department.

• Problems with installation of markers: Howard reported that there have been several
markers installed without the proper base. The consensus of the Committee was to
contact those monument companies involved and require them to make the necessary
corrections.
Asphalt roadway repairs: Howard reported that staff is working on a bid to repair the
asphalt roadway in the cemetery. This project should be completed by Fall 2001.
• Guest: Cobin McGee was a guest at the meeting. He expressed interest in serving on the
Committee. He explained that his grandfather lived on the property adjoining the
cemetery and had cared for Page Jackson cemetery many years ago.
No further business — meeting was adjourned at 4:15 p.m
