Thelma Mike gave the invocation. Minutes of Oct. 23, 2002 were read and approved. OLD BUSINESS: Review of Cemetery projects for FY 02/03• NTI 0' ABSENT: Cobbin McGee Fred Gaines 1. Howard informed the Committee that the City will start paving the roadways in the cemetery this summer. $20,000. has been allotted in the budget this year. The first project will consist of paving the front area of Evergreen in . front of the brick building. 2. Staff is also rehabbing the cemetery signage. We will be obtaining quotes and anticipate completing this project by April/ 03. Christopher Neal asked what the plans were for landscaping the Crawford` property. Howard stated that shrubs have been planted along the border of the property to screen the area and a few trees have been planted throughout the area. NEW BUSINESS: Request for new cemetery budget projects Howard informed the Committee that budget for 2003/04 will be presented in April and if the Committee had any cemetery projects etc., now was the time to present them to the City so funding could be put in the budget. .i 1 ill 1 Donation of J.T. Allen Property: On 1 -20 -03 the City Commission approved accepting the donation of the J.T. Allen property, pending results of a title search and environmental assessment. This area will provide approximately 200 available spaces for sale. Christopher Neal suggested installing a small plaque indicating the donation by the family and to incorporate this section into the Evergreen cemetery. Discussion on burial of cremation remains (Special request from Brisson . Ron Kandzer, Brisson Funeral Home presented pictures of a "Sundial" which holds cremation ashes. A family wants to purchase and install this on their lot. They want 3 people (some are cremation ashes) buried in their lot but only have space for two. The sundial would meet their needs by allowing cremations. The consensus of the committee was to give permission for the family to install the sundial and perhaps to review /revise the rules & regulations to accommodate usage of these sundials. OTHER BUSINESS: Howard stated that in the cemetery there are trees marked for removal. Bon Terre will be cutting down these trees in the near future. Linda mentioned that Cobbin McGee's term of office will expire in March 03, and asked if the Committee would approve of him serving again. The consensus of the committee was to ask him to serve again. • No further business the meeting was adjourned at 4:10 p.m. I*
