HomeMy WebLinkAbout08092001Min• • MINUTES The Board of Adjustment of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Regular Session in the City Commission Chambers of the City Hall at 11:35 A.M. on August 9, 2001. Members Present: Larry Blair, Chairman Sylvia Smith Ruth Stamm Members Absent: Karl Stairs - excused Andrew Valente - excused Others Present: Dan M. Florian, Building Official Mary Muse, Secretary The Chairman Larry Blair called the meeting to order at 11:35 A.M. The following letter was submitted for consideration: Board of Adjustment City Hall Sanford, FL 32771 Gentlemen: I am submitting the following information for your consideration in requesting a variance in the Zoning Ordinance. Address: 701 W 3`d Street Legal Description: Lots 1 & 2 Blk 5 Tr 10, Florida Land & Colonization Company Limited E R Traffords Map of the Town of Sanford, as recorded in PB 1 PG 61, Public Records of the Seminole County, Florida Zoning Classification: MR -3 Side Yard (Street Side) Setback Requirement: 30 -ft Present Setback: 0 -ft Variance Needed: 30 -ft Rear Yard Setback Requirement: 4 -ft. Present Setback: 0 -ft. Variance Needed: 4 -ft. The planned use of the property is to construct a shed on the property. Any consideration given this request will be appreciated. Signed: Jerry Mills, Owner Mr. Mills was present to represent the request. Mr. Mills submitted a picture to the board showing the location where the shed would be installed. There is a 30 -ft. right -of -way, which he has a fence installed with city approval. The shed would be located within the right -of -way area. Ms. Smith stated that the board does not have the authority to grant a variance for anything in the right -of -way. Mr. Florian advised the board that they are only considering the 0 -ft. setback for the shed. If it is located within the right -of- way, the owner will have to obtain approval from the City. Address: 1820 Sanford Avenue Legal Description: Lot 7 and the South 30 ft. of Lot 6, Blk G, Revised Plat of Markham Park Heights, according to the plat thereof, as recorded in PB 1, PG 78, Public Records of Seminole County, Florida. • Zoning Classification: SR -lA Side (Street Side) Yard Setback Requirement: 25 -ft Present Setback: 6 -ft Variance Needed: 19 -ft The planned use of the property is to construct a carport on property. Any consideration given this request will be appreciated. Signed: Patricia Davis, Owner Ms. Davis was present to represent the request. She presented the Board with pictures of the area. In 1977, a garage was located in the same location. It was demolished due to it being in a deteriorated condition. There is an existing curb cut. There would be no blockage of traffic visibility. They need the carport to protect the vehicles from damage caused by the trees. Ms. Smith made a motion to approve the variance. Ms. Stamm seconded. Zoning Classification: SR -1 Side (Street Side) Yard Setback Requirement: 15- ft.(carport/studio) Side Yard Setback Requirement: 5 -$. (shed) Present Setback: 3 -ft (carport/studio) & 3 -ft. (shed) Variance Needed: 12 -ft (carport/studio) & 2 -ft. (shed) The planned use of the property is to construct a carport/studio and a shed. Any consideration given this request will be appreciated. • Signed: Denny Gibbs, Owner • The owner submitted a request to table the case until the Historic Preservation Board can make their recommendations regarding the request since the property is located within the Historical District. Ms. Smith made a motion to table the case until after Historic Preservation Board action. Ms. Stamm seconded. Blair - aye Smith - aye Stamm - aye Motion carried.
