HomeMy WebLinkAbout08232001MinMINUTES • The Board of Adjustment of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Regular Session in the City Commission Chambers of the City Hall at 11:35 A. M. on August 23, 2001. Members Present: Larry Blair, Chairman Sylvia Smith Ruth Stamm Karl Stairs Andrew Valente Others Present: Dan M. Florian, Building Official Mary Muse, Secretary The Chairman Larry Blair called the meeting to order at 11:35 A. M. The following letter was submitted for consideration: Board of Adjustment City Hall Sanford, FL 32771 • Gentlemen: I am submitting the following information for your consideration in requesting a variance in the Zoning Ordinance. Address: 1201 W. 7`h Street Legal Description: Lot 6, Blk 9, Tr 15, Seminole Park, as recorded in PB 2 PG 75, Public Records of the Seminole County, Florida Zoning Classification: MR -2 Front Yard (7'h Street Side) Setback Requirement: 30 -ft Present Setback: 19.38 -ft Variance Needed: 10.62 -ft Front Yard (Avocado Ave Side) Setback Requirement: 30 -ft. Present Setback: 8.74 -ft. Variance Needed: 21.26 -ft. The planned use of the property is to construct an addition onto the property. Any consideration given this request will be appreciated. Signed: Marie Ware, Owner Ms. Ware was present to represent the request. Mr. Florian advised the board that when an owner is requesting a variance, the City also bring the existing structure in compliance. Zoning Classification: SR -1 Front Yard Setback Requirement: 25 -ft Present Setback: 15.8 -ft Variance Needed: 9.2 -ft Side Yard Setback Requirement: 7.5 -ft Present Setback: 5.8 -ft Variance Needed: 1.7 -ft The planned use of the property is to construct a carport on property. Any consideration given this request will be appreciated. Signed: Lalun Tindall, Owner Pamela Tindall, owner's daughter, was present to represent the request. Ms. Tindall brought a picture of the carport to show the Board. Owner has spoken with neighbors and they do not have a problem with it. Ms. Smith made a motion to approve the variance. Mr. Valente seconded for discussion. Mr. Valente was concerned about granting the variance because it may be setting a precedent and others will be asking for the same kind of variance. Present Setback: 7 -ft Variance Needed: 18 -ft Side Yard Setback Requirement: 7.5 -ft Present Setback: 4.2 -ft (chimney area) & 5.6 -ft. (building) Variance Needed: 3.3 -ft (chimney area) & 1.9 -ft. (building) Parcel Width at Building Line Requirement: 60 -ft Current Parcel Width at Building Line: 50 -ft Parcel Width at Building Line Variance Needed: 10 -ft The planned use of the property is to construct a room addition. Mr. Florian advised the board that the new room addition would be in line with the existing structure, excluding the chimney area. Ms. Smith made a motion to approve the variance as requested. Mr. Valente seconded. Blair - aye Smith - aye Stamm - aye Stairs - aye Valente - aye Motion carried. OTHER BUSINESS: • 1. Sylvia Smith requested the applicant provide directions to the property. Possibly could obtain a map and directions from Map Quest on the Internet. 2. Sylvia Smith requested a copy of the entire survey instead a portion of it.
