HomeMy WebLinkAbout04112002Min• MINUTES BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT April 11, 2002 The Board of Adjustment of the City of Sanford, Florida met in Regular Session in the City Commission Chambers of the City Hall at 11:35, AM on April 11, 2002. Members Present: Larry Blair Andrew Valente Ruth Stamm Karl Stairs Members Absent: Sylvia Smith Others Present: Dan Florian, Bldg Official Russell Gibson, Land Development Mgr Nick Balevich, Land Development The Chairperson Larry Blair called the meeting to order at 11:41, AM. The following letter was submitted for consideration: • Board of Adjustment City Hall Sanford, FL 32771 Gentlemen: I am submitting the following information for your consideration in requesting a variance in the Zoning Ordinance. Address: 106 Sterling Court Legal Description: Leg Lot 46 Blk G Washington Oaks Sec 1 PB 16 PG8 Zoning Classification: SRI Side Yard Setback Requirement: 4' Variance Needed: 3.3' The request for this variance is to approve a carport built without a permit to accommodate the owner's wife, who is very ill. Any consideration given this request will be appreciated. Signed: John Wamsley The owner John Wamsley was present to represent his request. is This request was continued from the March 14th meeting, because there was no quorum. • Aafter a brief discussion, a motion was made by Andrew Valente to approve the request with the following condition: that this structure would be legal for as long as Mr. Wamsley owns the property, and that it will no longer be acceptable if he sells the property. Motion was seconded by Ruth Stamm. Vote was three aye's, one nay (Larry Blair). Motion passed 3 to 1. The following letter was submitted for consideration: Board of Adjustment City Hall Sanford, FL 32771 Gentlemen: I am submitting the following information for your consideration in requesting a variance in the Zoning Ordinance. Address: 201 W. 17th Street Legal Description: E 20 Ft of Lot 37 & All Lot 38 Sanford Heights PB 2 PG 63 • Zoning Classification: SR1A Front Yard Setback Requirement: 25' Variance Needed: .5' Side Yard Setback Requirement: 10' Variance Needed: 6' The request for this variance is to add a screened room addition to the structure. After brief discussion, a motion was made by Ruth Stamm to accept this request as submitted. Seconded by Andrew Valente. All were in favor. Motion passed. The following letter was submitted for consideration: Board of Adjustment City Hall 40 Sanford, FL 32771 • I am submitting the following information for your consideration in requesting a variance in the Zoning Ordinance. Address: 103 London Fog Way Legal Description: Lot 35 Mayfair Oaks PB 50 PGS 38 Thru 41 Zoning Classification: MRl Rear Yard Setback Requirement: 20' Variance Needed: 2.98' The request for this variance is to build a screen room on the structure. After a brief discussion, a motion was made by Andrew Valente to accept this request as presented. Seconded by Ruth Stamm. Vote was all in favor. Address: 204 W 18th Street Legal Description: Leg Lots 53 54 & 55 Sanford Heights PB 2 PG 63 Zoning Classification: SR1A Side Yard Setback Requirement: 10' Variance Needed: 2.16 The request for this variance copied from application: "The home at 204 W. 18th' Street Sanford was purchased and remodeled by my partners and myself. We are requesting a variance of 2.16 feet on the East boundary line. We will be selling the home and pool, which sit on Lot 54 & 55, leaving Lot 53. This request was continued from the March 14th meeting, because there was no quorum. After a brief discussion, the motion was made by Andrew Valente to accept as submitted. Seconded by Karl Stairs. Vote three aye's, one nay (Ruth Stamm). Motion passed 3 to 1. Address: 204 W. 18°i Street Legal Description: Leg Lots 53 54 & 55 Sanford Heights Zoning Classification: SR1A Parcel Width at Building Line Requirements: 70' Variance Needed: 10' The request for this variance: "we have totally renovated the home on lot 54 & 55, and would like to build a historic -type bungalow that would fit with the other homes in the area." After some discussion, Andrew Valente moved to accept the variance as requested. Seconded by Karl Stairs. Vote, three aye's, one nay (Ruth Stamm). Motion passed, 3 to 1.
