commercial development project.

PH-2 Hold a Public Hearing to consider proposed amendments to the City of Sanford Comprehensive
Plan including the Future Land Use Element and the Future Land Use Plan Map for
approximately 63.4 acres in the vicinity of the Georgetown Neighborhood.

PH-3 Hold a Public Hearing to consider rezoning approximately 98.23 acres of property located in the

Mr. VonHerbulis called the meeting to order at 6 PM.
Minutes
Mr. Robert moved to approve the Minutes of the May 21, 2009 Regular Meeting. Mr. Loader seconded. Motion
carried 7..0 (Mr. Kutz not present at this time).
Proof of Publication
Ms. Dennison moved to accept the proof of publications. Mr. Robert seconded. Motion carried 7-0 (Mr. Kutz not
present at thi s time).
Public Hearing
Due to the applicant not being present for PH-l item, Mr. VonHerbulis moved it to be discussed after PH..2 and
PH-3 items.
Mr. Robertson requested the board to discuss PH..2 and PH-3 concurrently, but make a separate motion for each
item.

Present to speak were Doug McDuffee, Betty Robinson, Doreen Freeman, Theresa Spano, Gary Rager, Canene
Johnson, James Lee, Diana Betancourt, Claudia Brown, Bernard Mitchell, Toby Troutman, Tonnetta McGill,
Vernon Johnson, and Kathleen Corley. Those in favor want to see the Georgetown area preserved as single family.
Those in opposition were concerned about maintaining the existing multi-family and commercial uses once the
rezoning is passed.
Mr. Yosefian moved to recommend approval of the proposed amendments to the City of Sanford Comprehensive
Plan for approximately 63.4 acres in the vicinity of the Georgetown Neighborhood to the City Commission per
staffs recommendation. Ms. Dennison seconded. Motion carried 8..0~
Mr. Yosefian moved to recommend approval of the rezoning of approximately 98.23 acres in the Georgetown
Neighborhood to the City Commission per staffs recommendation. Mr. Yolk seconded. After discussion, Mr.
Y osefian amended his motion to include the map changes discussed (properties along Mellonville Avenue will be
single-family and the parcel at 3rd & Pine Avenue will be a PD) and staff is to work with the residents who desire a
letter concerning continuation of a non-conforming use or wish to have a PD zoning for their business to ensure the
viability of the existing businesses in the area and staffwill make the proposals in the motion to the City
Commission. Mr. Yolk seconded amended motion. Motion carried 8...0.

Present to speak in opposition were James and Sharon Mason. They said in the past there have been issues with
speeding, loud music, and intoxicated people. Present to speak in favor was Pablo Fonseca.
Mr. Kutz moved to recommend approval to the City Commission per staff's recommendation. Mr. Loader
seconded. Motion carried 8-0.

A staff report was included in the agenda packet
Citizen Participation
Toby Troutman asked the board if the hotel located at SUl and Palmetto Avenue would be receiving the PD zoning.
She was informed if the owner was interested in a PD zoning, they would have the right to request it.
