Commissioners Reports
Mr. Mills requested a map showing the railroads within the City. Mr. Gibson stated he would provide a neap at the
next meeting or sooner once it is available.
Mr. Mills stated the City needs to hire an expert to assist staff in moving forward to enhance and encourage good
quality upscale development between SunRail and Sanford's downtown, the Mall and the airport. He met with the
City Manager, which Russ Gibson, Jonathan Pauls and Louis Rotundo were in attendance. The City needs to raise
the level of quality along the corridor into the City.
Ms. Oyewale stated the board needs the ability to say no when a certain type of use is not the most desirable for an
area, and unless the City Commission is on board it is hard to address certain regulations and standards.
Mr. Loader stated the board is to look at the legalities in regards to what the code allows and it is up to the City
Commission to decide what type of business should be allowed in certain areas.
Mr. Gibson stated the board is charged as the local planning agency to consider projects per the current land
development codes and can provide direction to the City Commission to make changes. A joint planning meeting
