Old Business No old business Iristine Ms. Clarke advised the board that she only had two items to be discussed which were setting meeting dates and times for 2015 and electing board officers. Christine Kinlaw Best, Chairman advised the board of the next scheduled meetings which are April 7th, July 7th, October 6"' and January 5th, 2016. It was decided by board members to adjust the time of the future `meetings to 5PM to accommodate members' work schedules. Ms. Clarke noted Ms. Qualls has not been receiving agenda and minutes in the mail. Her mailing information was updated. Christine Kinlaw Best advised the board that new officers would need to be chosen for the positions of Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary. Ms. Best reviewed the duties of the Chairman which include running the meeting and signing approved minutes. The Vice Chairman serves if the Chairman is absent. Joshua Dane said he would assist with either position. Christine Kinlaw Best asked if Mr. Dane would be willing to serve as Chairman and he agreed. Mr. Dane was accepted by unanimous consent. Ms. Qualls said she would volunteer for Vice Chairman and board members approved by unanimous consent. Mrs. Best agreed to serve as Secretary. The board discussed removing the Secretary position from the board since staff member Julie Ellenburg attends meetings and prepares minutes. Ms. Clarke said the museum staff would research the procedure for removing the position of Secretary from the board. Ms. Clarke told the board the Sanford Historical Society is attempting to shift over to sending their newsletter by email but they are having trouble tracking members who are interested in this. She asked if anyone had experience with polling or surveys. Mr. Dane suggested using Survey Monkey. A discussion followed about websites to check such as the Friends of the Wekiva River and the Sanford Historic Trust's site that may have a newsletter behind a paywall. Ms. Clarke told the board about possible projects for 2015 including National Train Day, the 50`x' Anniversary of the Vietnam War, and the anniversary of the assassination of President Lincoln. Train Day was a great success for the museum a few years ago because of the participation of Amtrak Autotrain. The board suggested approaching Amtrak and SunRail about the event. A small exhibit about Sanford native Terry Cordell, the first American officer killed in Vietnam, will be put up in the museum lobby. Ms. Best said a local man on Facebook is compiling information about soldiers from Sanford killed in Vietnam. She said she would contact him about his list of names. Ms. Clarke would like to have an exhibit about the attempted assassination of Secretary of State Seward which occurred on the same day as the Lincoln assassination. Henry Sanford worked for Seward. Seward's would be assassin, Lewis Thornton Powell, had relatives in Geneva and he is buried there. Ms. Clarke announced the addition of Brigitte Stephenson to the museum staff. She was hired to replace Brandi Wilmot as Museum Assistant. Ms. Clarke told the board about George Scott. Mr. Scott, a local bottle collector and supporter of the museum, is in a coma and not expected to live. There being no further business, the of
