The first item on the Agenda was to hold a Public Hearing to consider a request for a Conditional
Use for property located at 2190 Oregon Avenue in an Agricultural zoning District for a
proposed elementary school site.
Dianne Kramer, Executive Director of Facilities, Seminole County Public Schools, 400 E. Lake
Mary Blvd., was present. She stated that the property is at the corner of Oregon and Huey. The
School Board has this property under contract for purchase. It is to serve the northwest cluster
which is one of the largest attendance zones, which is currently being served by Idyllwilde,
Wilson and Wicklow Elementary. This school will help relieve overcrowded conditions. She
asked that the Conditional Use be considered now because they are in a tight timefrarne. The
School Board would like to open this school in August of 2001, which means construction would
have to be started this Summer.
Ms. Kramer stated that this will be a two -story brick school. Lowe Avenue will be used as an
entrance for the bus route and they will also provide a new entrance to Derby Park. They are
meeting with other developers in the area regarding off -site improvements that will be necessary.
The school will have the capacity to serve approximately 800 students.
