Knowles, City Manager Steven Harriett, Assistant City Manager The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by the Chairman, John Morris. The first item was a Public Hearing to consider a request for rezoning from AD to MI -2, property located south of Jewett Lane to SCL RR, west of Airport Blvd. for the purpose of an industrial park. There was no one present to represent the request. There was opposition from property owners in the county who are within 200 ft. of the area under discussion, objecting to the fact that they were not notified by certified mail and that the property was improperly posted. Chairman Morris said the Public Nearing would be dismissed and readvertised with notification to all property owners within 200 ft. and that the property would be reposted. The next item was a Public Hearing to consider a request for rezoning from RC -1 to GC -2, property located at the SE corner of 20th St. and Hwy. 17 -92, for the purpose of auto sales, submitted by Nora Schmidt for Nordstar Properties. There was no one present to represent the request but the proponent had requested the Public Hearing be held. Present to speak in opposition were A. A. McClanahan, John Cullum, Harold Davis and Elizabeth Corpening. There was also a petition of names of other property owners objecting to the rezoning because the property touches on residential and they strongly oppose the expansion of commercial zoning. After discussion, Mrs. Smith moved to recommend denial. Mr. Grieme seconded. Motion carried. The next item was a Public Hearing to consider a request for a conditional use in GC -2 zone for the installation of gasoline pumps for self - service gas, located at the SW corner of Hwy. 46 & Persimmon Ave., represented by Charles Angel for Shop & Go. Present to speak in opposition were Adelaide Richter and Henry Richter, owners of property across from the proposed Shop & Go, objecting to the type of business because of the multiple - family zoning of their property. Page 2 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- After discussion Mr. Miller moved to approve the conditional use for self - service gasoline pumps. Mr. Davidson seconded. Motion carried unanimously. The next item was a Public Hearing to consider a request for a conditional use in a GC -2 zone for automotive sales at 1809 S. French Ave., represented by Bill Hicks. Mr. Hicks said he wants to move from his present location to 1809 S. French Ave. in order to increase his inventory and feels it to be a better location. Mr. Lou Blanc was present to speak in favor of the request on behalf of the owners of the property, Mr. & Mrs. Foerch, who had expressed their approval of the type of business for the location. There was no one to speak in opposition. After discussion, Mr. Galloway moved to approve the conditional use. Mr. Franklin seconded. Motion carried unan- imously. The next item for consideration was a site plan for Bill Hicks Used Car Lot, 1809 S. French Ave. represented by Bill Hicks. After reviewing the site plan, Mr. Miller moved to approve. Mr. Grieme seconded. Motion carried. The next item was consideration of a site plan for a Shop & Go store, located at the SW corner of the intersection of Persimmon Ave. & W. 1st St. in the GC -2 zone, represented by Charles Angel. After discussion, Mr. Davidson moved to approve the plan, subject to DOT approval. Mr. Galloway seconded. Motion carried. The Minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
