The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by the Chairman, John Morris.
The first item was a Public Hearing to consider a request for rezoning from
AD to MI -2, property located south of Jewett Lane to SCL RR, west of Airport
Blvd. for the purpose of an industrial park. There was no one present to
represent the request.
There was opposition from property owners in the county who are within 200
ft. of the area under discussion, objecting to the fact that they were not
notified by certified mail and that the property was improperly posted.
Chairman Morris said the Public Nearing would be dismissed and readvertised
with notification to all property owners within 200 ft. and that the property
would be reposted.
The next item was a Public Hearing to consider a request for rezoning from
RC -1 to GC -2, property located at the SE corner of 20th St. and Hwy. 17 -92,
for the purpose of auto sales, submitted by Nora Schmidt for Nordstar Properties.
There was no one present to represent the request but the proponent had requested
the Public Hearing be held.
Present to speak in opposition were A. A. McClanahan, John Cullum, Harold Davis
and Elizabeth Corpening. There was also a petition of names of other property
owners objecting to the rezoning because the property touches on residential
and they strongly oppose the expansion of commercial zoning. After discussion,
Mrs. Smith moved to recommend denial. Mr. Grieme seconded. Motion carried.
The next item was a Public Hearing to consider a request for a conditional
use in GC -2 zone for the installation of gasoline pumps for self - service
gas, located at the SW corner of Hwy. 46 & Persimmon Ave., represented by
Charles Angel for Shop & Go.
Present to speak in opposition were Adelaide Richter and Henry Richter, owners
of property across from the proposed Shop & Go, objecting to the type of
business because of the multiple - family zoning of their property.
