Planning and Zoning Commission

The meeting was opened at 8:00 P.M. by the Chairman, Arthur Harris.
The first item on the agenda was a request for approval of a plan
to add to the back of AMP, 603 W. 27th St. for storage only.
Mr. Robert Whitaker was present to make the request. After discussion,
Mr. Royster moved to approve. Mr. Galloway seconded. Motion
carried.
The request for conditional use for sale of beer and wine for con-
sumption on the premises at 2701 Orlando Drive, tabled at the last
meeting was the next item for discussion. Since that time the pro-
ponent withdrew the request. Mr.Royster moved to dismiss the item,
Mr. Davis seconded. Motion carried.
The next item for discussion was a request 'by Mr. Merthie, 1611
Persimmon Ave. for an addition to a non - conforming use to a Day
Care Center. After discussion regarding parking, Mr. Davis moved
to approve. Mr. Galloway Motion carried.
The next item, from the floor, was a plan for a proposed County
Detention Complex, represented by Sheriff Polk, John Percy and
Carl Gutmann. It was explained they need approval of the concept
in order to meet ground breaking deadline, and will return with
a final site plan and engineering plan at a later date. Mr. Galloway
moved to approve the concept, Mr. Davis seconded. Motion carried.
It was brought to the attention of the Board members that the Zoning
Ordinance is obsolete regarding truck parking, and in need of revision.

Mr. Steffens was asked to write up a change and present it
at the next meeting for appm val.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. There being
no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
