The first item on the agenda was a Public Hearing to consider
rezoning that annexed property, Lots 1 thru 6, and 17 thru 26,
Blk 21, Dreamwold, south of Santa Barbara, between Iroquois and
Mohawk, from SR1 -AA to SR -1. There was no one to speak in favor.
Mr. Ziegler was present to request that his Lot 6 in that area
be rezoned GC -2, and was told it was not recommended by the Staff,
and the P & Z Board feels that the commercial encroachment should
stop at the point designated. Mr. Sloan moved to recommend the
rezoning from SR1 -AA to SR -1, Mr. Gischler seconded. Motion
carried.
Mr. John Amos was present to request conditional use for a church
+occupancy at 1016 French Ave. and explained it was to be used
temporarily, after the requirements have been met to bring the
building up to code. There was a question as to the legality
of allowing a church to be located within 500 ft. of a liquor
store, and so it was tabled at the meeting until the legality
was checked. After determining it was legal the P & Z Com-
mission voted to request the use by telephone poll.
Paul Jarvis presented a package of plans of some low cost homes
being built and facts substantiating the need and the trend.
After discussion on the Builders Forum Recommendations and sug-
gestions from the City Planner as to how a new zone could be
formulated and regulated to allow for a lower cost home, possibly
on a smaller lot, the Board requested the City Planner to draw
up a potential zoning ordinance plan for a new district, including
single- family and multiple- family units, and present it at the
next meeting.
The Minutes from the last meeting were approved.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
