Risner, Building Official Gerald Dake, City Planner Mack LaZenby, City Engineer The meeting was called to order by the Chairman. The first item of business was a public hearing to consider a request to rezone portions of Geneva Terrace and Geneva Terrace Replat from an R -lA, Single Family Dwelling to that of an R -2, One and Two Family Dwelling District. Chairman Harris asked if anyone wished to appear in favor of the rezoning. Mr. Guiliford Lord appeared to request the rezoning due to the fact that the proposed single family residences would not be feasible because of the excessive cost for the develop- ment of the project. Zoning and Planning Commission February 3, 1972 8:00 P.M. Page 2 Chairman Harris asked if anyone wished to appear in opposition of the rezoning. Mr. Frank Hubbard questioned the developer if the lots that are within the vicinity of the existing homes would be rezoned to the R -2 zoning. Chairman Harris stated that this was not the intention of the developer and that all the lots with existing houses and the adjoining vacant lots in Geneva Terrace would not be considered for rezoning and that the developer would have a buffer area between the existing houses and the area considered for rezoning. After discussion and on motion of Mr. Hollingsworth it was moved that a recommendation be made to the City Commission that Lots 5 - 25, 35 - 42, 51 - 62, 72 - 75, & 81 - 91 be rezoned from an R -lA, Single Family Dwelling to that of an R -2, One and Two Family Dwelling, pending upon the deeding of Lots 71 & 76 to the City of Sanford to be used as open space for the development. Seconded by Mr. Franklin and duly carried. The County Planner and the City Planner reported to the members that the Airport Zoning as suggested and adopted by ordinance by the City of Sanford had also been placed on the agenda for consideration by the County Commission for the second Wednesday in March and hoped for approval of the same. Gerald Dake, City Planner, discussed the feasibility of a Neighborhood Development Program for the City of Sanford. After consideration it was moved by Mr. Karns that a recommendation be forwarded to the City Commission that the Neighborhood Develop- ment Program be adopted to replace the defunct Urban Renewal Program. Seconded by Mr. Berrien and carried with a unanimous vote. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. /4' 2A" Chairman
