Bush, Harris, Lee, 0 Smith, and Wharton. Also present were City Manager Knowles co and Building Official Risner. Meeting was called to order by Mr. Art Harris, Chairman Pro -tem. Reading of the previous minutes was waived. A discussion was held regarding possible recommendation to the .City Commission pertaining to multiple family dwelling structures being allowed in the C -1 commercial districts, whereby this use is allowed in the R -3 and C -2 in addition to motels and hotels being allowed in the C -1 districts. It was felt that the "condominium" type apartments that are now becoming a new trend should be considered. Due to the fact that the Board could not remember any concrete reason "? for eliminating this use in the C -1 and possibly it could have been an oversite, it was moved by Dr. Smith, seconded by Mr. Bush and carried that it be recommended to the City Commission that under Article XI, Page 31, Item 17 be amended to include: -- '¢.F apartment houses (as well as hotels and motels). This being in the C -1 districts. v i Mr. R. T. Milwee, Superintendent of Public Schools, 4 n submitted a written request for a feasibility discussion re- L garding rezoning school property situated on the southwest .1 corner of Elm Avenue at 15th Street for proposed construction of a storage, maintenance shop, and school bus garage. The property is presently zoned as R -lA single family 0 dwelling district. Any vonforming rezoning would have to 0 be to that of lowering to an M -1 industrial. A lengthy discussion was held regarding the site and the proposed use. The Board concurred that this location was not a favorable site for the above proposed use.and .deferred action on setts a date for a _..,.. setting public hearing until more concrete information could be presented by the School Board. Z & P minutes 1/7/65 2 It was brought to the Board's attention that a Mr. Gray, presently working with the School Board, was contemplating on an operation of a business of used furniture, furniture re- finishing, and woodworking of cabinets in a C -2 zone in the 1500 Block of West 13th Street and /or southwest corner of 13th and Oleander. However, woodworking and mill work is not permitted in a C -2 zone. The Board concurred that there was not sufficient evidence of a trend of this type for an amendment to the C -2 zoning to permit this type of operation. Therefore, the matter was tabled. The newly annexed area at the Southwest corner of 27th Street and French Avenue was next taken into consideration for a recommendation on the zoning. Legal being that of: - East 250' of Lots 1, 2, 3 and 4, Amended Plat of Druid Park. It was moved by Mr. Wharton, seconded by Mr. Bush and carried that the zoning be recommended to the City Commission as an R -1 single family dwelling district.
