HomeMy WebLinkAbout10.01.59ZONING AND PLANNING COMMISSION Regular Meeting - October 1, 1959 7:30 P.M. - City Commission Room City Hall Members present were: Messers. McKibbin, Faville, Karns, Kirtley, Harris, Johnson, Lee, Morgan and Talley. Also present worst City Manager Knowles and Buildng Official Yelvington. Meeting was called to order by Chairman McKibbin. The off - street parking for a plumbing shop with an additional store, first floor and two apartments second floor for Mr. L. C. Clark, Sr., at his new building at 2632 and 2654 Hiawatha Avenue; property just recently takes into the city limits. Moved by Mr. Harris, seconded by Mr. Morgan and carried that, a minimum of eight (8) off- street parking spaces be approved subject to the Building Official's satisfaction. Mr. Porter Lansing neat appeared before the Board in refer- ence to a previous rezoning request to that of commercial the A.W. corner of 26a Street and Sanford Avenue. Mr. Porter stated that he also owned property in this immediate vicinity and asked that reconsideration be given regarding the Board's action of denial However, due to the fact that, Mr. Lansing did not have his request in proper written application form and could not give the Board the legal property description or location of his property Mr. Harris moved that the matter be tabled. Motion seconded by Ar • Kirtley and carried. Mr. Robert McKee presented a request to the Board for rezoning from that of R -1 to a possible C -1 the property with approximately 60 feet frontage on Celery Avenue and 148 feet frontage on Mellon- ville Avenue. The property actually forms in an "L" shape, and is situated behind the old Ginder Store property and the Davis property om the S.W. corner of Mellonville and Celery Avenues. Legal being: Begin 140 feet south 4 degrees West of center of intersection of Mellonville Avenue and Celery Avenue, in the City of Sanford, Florida, run West 60 feet, South 4 degrees West 13 feet, West 120 feet, South 4 degrees West 135 feet, East 180 feet, North 4 degrees East 148 feet to beginning. Said land being in Section 31, Township 19 South, Range 31 East. LESS right of way for street, also Begin 120 feet west of the Center of the Intersection of Mellon- ville and Celery Avenues, in the City of Sanford, Florida run west 60 feet, thence south 4 degrees West, parallel 2th Mellonville Avenue, 153 feet, thence East 60 feet, Thence forth 4 degrees East to point of Beginning, said land being in Section 31, Township 19 South, Range 31 East. LESS right of way for street. The request was accompanied by a petition signed by thirteen (13) abutting property owners that they had no objection to the rezoning of this property for commercial use such as a Lit'l Giant Food Store: Z & P October 1, 1959 Page Daring the discussion, it was noted that this southwest corner is already an existing zone of C -10 Therefore, it mould be feasible to make the area a contigious commercial zone. Moved by Mr. Harris, seconded by Mr. Morgan and carried, that the property of Mr. Robert McKee's previously described, be zoned to that of C -B (Neighborhood- Commercial). Mr. and Mrs. Clarence L. Wynn, living at 2606 Grandview, and owning property in Block 2, Palm Terrace,-vicinity of Mr. Lansing's property and also the property that was under request by Mr. Dietrichs and denied, appeared before the Board and stated that they too would like their property to be considered for commercial use. They stated that they based their decision to sell due to the noise of the planes and Angel's place. Mr. Harris recommended that the entire area matter be held in abeyance until the City Planner finishes his etudy and work and could provide the final profected picture for this area and that the rezoning, if feasible, should be considered for the entire area. The members agreed to the recommendation. The replat of the Rest Lawn Cemetery at Hardy Avenue and W. 251k Street (N.B. corner) was submitted for the Board's approval due to the changing of the corners. The plat was approved as submitted.
