McKibbin, Harris, Talley, Johnson,.Bush, Kirtley and Karns. Also present were City Manager Knowles; Building Official Yelvington; Asst. Building Official Risner; Mri. George Simons, Sanford's Planning Consultant from Jacksonville and Mr. Phil Pitts, representative from Mr. Simon's office. Meeting was called to order by Acting Chairman Harris. The minutes of September 22, September 29, and October 6, 1960, wem read and approved. Therle being no urgent business at hand, Acting Chairman Harris asked Mr. Simons to take over the meeting with regards to the completion of the review work by the Board on the proposed zoning ordinance and zoning map for the City of Sanford. Mr. Simons commended the Board for their extensive review work on hip proposed ordinance and map; a part of the comprehensive plan. The entire meeting was spent with Mr. Simons going over the suggested amendments with the Board as to what changes would be acceptable when the proposed ordinance is again rewritten for presenjtation at a Public Hearing. However, Mr. Simons asked the Board to give further con- sideration to their changes on the zoning map with particular thought to the proposed commercial zone of -2, which he felt the .Board had thrown open too much throughout the existing commercial areas; and, which could make a future slum trend of everything and anything in the neighborhood shopping centers. This could also devalue the Central Business District. However, the Board had worked along the lines of making the well- established businesses conforming.
