1960, wem read and approved.
Therle being no urgent business at hand, Acting Chairman
Harris asked Mr. Simons to take over the meeting with regards to
the completion of the review work by the Board on the proposed
zoning ordinance and zoning map for the City of Sanford.
Mr. Simons commended the Board for their extensive review
work on hip proposed ordinance and map; a part of the comprehensive
plan.
The entire meeting was spent with Mr. Simons going over
the suggested amendments with the Board as to what changes would
be acceptable when the proposed ordinance is again rewritten
for presenjtation at a Public Hearing.
However, Mr. Simons asked the Board to give further con-
sideration to their changes on the zoning map with particular
thought to the proposed commercial zone of -2, which he felt
the .Board had thrown open too much throughout the existing
commercial areas; and, which could make a future slum trend
of everything and anything in the neighborhood shopping centers.
This could also devalue the Central Business District. However,
the Board had worked along the lines of making the well- established
businesses conforming. If iron- conforming, they felt that this
would have a tendency to make them lean toward a slum trend with-
out being able to enlarge, mat additions, etc.
