Regular Meeting of December 20, 1962
City Commission Room - City Hall
8:00 P.M.
Present were Messrs. McKibbin, Karns, Wharton, Bush, and Lee.
Also present were: Planning -and Building Official Yelvington and
City Manager Knowles.
Mr. McKibbin opened the meeting and the reading of.the minutes
were waivere.d.
The first item of business was the public hearing on Mr. Clyde
Robertson's request to rezone Lots 9 and 10, Block 10, Tier 7
from R -2 to C -1. Mr. McKibbin explained the past history on this
area when it was residential and rezoned to commercial from 6th
Street to 13th Street several years ago. Other than Mr. Robertson's
site, the use actually remained residential.for several years and,
therefore, under the comprehensive planning, it was zoned residential
a couple of years ago along with the overall zoning of the city.
This residential zoning inadvertently included Mr. Robertson's
commercial site.
Mr. Weeks, a resident of the area, said he was in favor of
the present commercial use and thought the Laurel Avenue area was
commercially zoned.
Mr. Gordon Brisson said he felt that as long as it was presently
used commercially that it should not go back to residential..
Mr. Karns moved that the request be approved and submitted.
to the City Commission. Mr. Lee seconded the motion and it passed.
Mr. McKibbin brought up the point that Mr. Johnson had been
unable to attend the meetings for several months`and this made it
difficult to obtain a quorum. Mr. Lee suggested that Mr. McKibbin
speak to Mr. Johnson to see if he would be able to attend future
meetings. Mr. McKibbin said he would talk with him.
Mr. Bush mentioned that he noted a Florida Lawn Spraying Service
was going in on the .southwest corner of 20th and Me.11onville Avenue by
a Mr. Judy and the area was zoned R1 -AA. No action was taken.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
