HomeMy WebLinkAbout05.03.56ZONING AND PLANNING COMMISSION Regular Meeting May 3, 1956 Members present were: Messers. Brown, Faville, Housholder, Lee, Wilson, and Wright. Also present were: Building Inspector Gillon and City Manager Knowles. Mr. Brown opend the meeting. The first item of business was a discussion of a proposed rule contained in the Memorandum dated May 1, 1956, from the City Manager's Office. Mr. Housholder proposed an amendment regarding the notification of any applicant of the results of votes in executive session. The amended rule reads as follows:- "Any single member of the Zoning and Planning Commission may request the Chairman to call an executive session of the Commission at any time for purposes of a discussion and /or vote on any public request Veing considered by said Com- mission. The Chairman shall immediately terminate the discussion on the particular request in question and set a time and place for the executive session. Such executive session shall be held not later than the date of the�next regular meeting. The applicant is to be notified of any vote results of the executive session and the reasons for the result ". Mr. Lee moved the adoption of the amended rule. Seconded by Mr. Faville and passed. The plat of the St. John's Sub- division was next submitted for the Commission - approval. Mr. Housholder moved that the matt -er be tabled due to the late date of submission and insufficient time to consider it. Seconded by Mr. Wright and passed. Mr. Brown then opened the floor for discussion on the revising of the area requirements for colored dwellings. The following schedule was decided upon: Present Zone New Zone Area R -3 R1 - 7C 700 sq. ft. R -4 RM - 5 500 F! T1 R -5 RM - 3C 300 it " No official action was taken. It was suggested that the R -4 and R -5 zones could be consolidated into an RM -4C zone with 400 square feet per dwelling unit. It was recommended that Mr. John Burton be suggested for the vacancy on the Commission; (Note:- Later established he lived outside of the city limits and so the recommendation was not forwarded to the City Commission.)
