Regular Meeting
August 16, 1956
Members present were: Messers. Brown, Collins, Faville,
Lee, McKibbin, and Morgan. Also present was Building Inspector
Yelvington.
At the suggestion of the Building Inspector, Mr. Don Smith,
owner of the Sporting Goods Store at 25% and Sanford, appeared
in regards to constructing a display shed to the rear of his
building and extending to the alley. He was referred to the
0 Board of Adjustment for a variance.
Request of Elk's Club at 76 and Cypress to move a building
to the rear lot line so as to be able to build an addition to
the rear of the present lodge was referred to the Board of Adjust -
ment. '
Mr. Yelvington brought to the attention of the Commission
that a welding shop was being started on French Avenue in a
A C -1 zone and against a residential zone in Highland Park.
Z Mr. McKibbin moved that the personnel issuing occupational
d licenses be instructed to check on the uses allowed in the
respective zones as a welding shop is only allowed in a C -2
zone. Seconded by Mr. Morgan and passed.
Mr. M suggested that Mr. Fred Bair could advise the
Commission as to the different concepts as to which way a house
should face on a corner lot. (That houses could be depreciated
by a hodge - podge around the corner.)
He further recommended an amendment to sections of the
ordinance in regards to front yard requirements to require,
in blocks where there is only one house on the same side of
the street, that the minimum front yard requirement be the
same as the minimum requirement for front yards as required
in that type zone. No action was taken.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
