Commission, Tuesday, J ar 15, 1952
City Commission Room - City Hall
Members present were: Messers. Brown, Collins, Karns,
Faville, and Morgan. Also peresent was Building Inspector
Yelvington.
Mr. Brown opened the meeting.
The request of Mr. Ted Williams to rezone S.I. Conver
Sub - division from R-1 to C -N was discussed. Mr. Faville
moved the request be denied. It Was seconded by Mr. Lee
and passed. Mr. Morgan voted against the motion.
The request of Albert Gibbons to rezone Lot 11, Block
3, Tier 6 (119 Elm Avenue) to a multiple family district was
discussed. Mr. Collins moved that they recommend the rezoning
from R -1 to R -2 the following area:
Lots 9, 10, and 11, Block 3, Tier 6
Lots 6, 7 9 8 9, 10, and 11, Block 3, T ier 7
Lots 6, 7, and 8, Block 3, Tier 8
Mr. Karns seconded the motion and it passed.
A discussion of city planning and a staff planner was
then held. Mr. Morgan moved that the Zoning and Planning
Commission recommend to the City Commission that Mr. C. M.
Brakefield, Jr., be hired as a staff planner, city employed,
to be utilized exclusively in the preparation of a compre-
hensive plan under the supervision of Mr. Fred Bair, Jr.,
for a period of 18 months or until the Zoning and Planning
Commission determines that his full time on planning is not
required; in which case such excess time as he may have shall
be utilized as directed by the City Commission. Seconded by
Mr. Faville and passed unanimously.
Mr. Karns then offered a Resolution that the Zoning and
Planning Commission of Sanford offer its full co- operation to
the City Commission in any efforts it may make for furtherance
of combined City - County Planning.
Seconded by Mr. Faville and passed unanimously.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
