Regular Meeting -- March 7 1957
Present were: Messers. Brown, Mcgibbin, Peacock, Dorgan,
Lee, Collins, and Karns. Also present were: City Manager
Knowles and Mr. Donald Park.
The reading of the minutes were dispensed with.
Mr. Mcgibbin was appointed to read all of the unapproved minutes
and make a report to the Commission on the acceptance of the
minutes.
The Commission then discussed the rezoning request from
Mr. Hall of Lots 18, 19, and 20, Block 13, 3rd Section of Dreamwold
Sub - division. They were informed that the property now belongs to
Mr. Donald Park, who wishes to build a $30,000 roller skating rink.
Mr. Park said the operation will not disturb the neighboring
residents although they will have organ music. Off- street parking
would be provided on the 250 Street side and Maple Avenue side.
Mr. Collins moved that a recommendation be submitted to the
City Commission to rezone from R--1 to C -1 the following area to
complete the buffer zone:
Bounded the east by Maple Avenue; on the south
by 25W Street; on the west by the alley between
Holly Avenue and Maple Avenue; and on the north
by 20W Street.
Seconded by Mr. Karns and passed.
Mr. Karns suggested the need to review the present zoning
map to erase conflicts or irregularities existing between abutting
zones. He suggested making the necessary changes and then standing
fast on them.
Mr. Knowles then gave a brief report on the status of the
city planner and the proposed plan of working with the county.
Mr. Collins suggested designating one meeting a month to be
given entirely to work on the map and drawing up the necessary
recommendations. No action was taken.
Mr. McKibbin moved for adjournment and Mr. Peacock seconded
the motion. Motion carried.
