COMMISSION, Thursday, March 21, 1957,
8:00 P.M.
Present were: Messers. Brown, Collins, Mehibbin, Peacock,
and Morgan.
Also present were: Mr. Yelvington, Building Inspector, City
Manager Knowles, Mr. John Burton, Mr. Reginald Brown, and Mrs. L.M.
Caldwell.
The request of Mr. Brown was taken up to rezone Lots 2 and 3,
Block 13, San Lanta Sub - division from R1 -A to R -1 to provide for
a real estate office in his home. Mr. McKibbin moved that the
recommendation be submitted to the City Commission, but to include
Lot 1 of the same block. Seconded by Mr. Peacock and passed.
Mr. Brown was informed of the 15 day posting period required
to change an ordinance and he said that was too long and to forget
about the requested change.
Mr. McKibbin moved to rescind the previous vote; Mr. Peacock
seconded the motion and it passed.
The request of Mr. Burton was then discussed to rezone Lots
1 2 3, 4 and east 101.4 feet of Lots 5 and 6, and all of Block
4, Mellonville Sub - division from R1 -AA to R -2 to allow the con-
struction of an architectual office building.
Mr. McKibbin moved that the recommendation be from R1 -AA to
R -2 for that area bounded on the south by 2nd Street; on the east
by Mellonville Avenue; on the north by Seminole Boulevard; and on
the west by the present R -2 zone to the east of San Carlos Avenue.
Mr. Morgan seconded the motion and it passed.
Mrs. L. M. Caldwell, daughter of Mrs. Jane Wells, requested
that Lot 6, Block 4, Tier 9, be rezoned from R -1 to R -2 so as to
allow apartments to be constructed in the existing two -story house.
Mr. McKibbin moved the recommendation as requested for the following
two areas and for them to be two separate areas:
1. Nest 'h of Blocks 4, 5, 6, and SW /4 of Block 3, all in
Tier 9.
2. Blocks 4 and 5, Tier 7; east one -half (r2) of Block 4
and 5. Tier 8; west one -half (h) of Block 4, Tier 6.
Mr. Peacock seconded the motion and it passed.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
