No. DD 372041 i V Johns Ma► PHI P ❑ ENRGY 3® ❑ ISO 3"m Description ENRGY 3 and ISO 3 are rigid roof insulation boards composed of a closed cell polyis6cyanurate foam core bonded in the manufacturing process to universal fiber glass reinforced facers. ENRGY 3 and ISO 3 utilize an environmentally compliant blowing agent containing pentane hydrocarbon to enhance the thermal per- formance of the foam insulation. This hydrocarbon has zero ozone depletion potential and conforms to the Montreal Protocol estab- lished in 1987. ENRGY 3 and ISO 3 meet the physical property requirements of ASTM C 1289, Type II, Class 1, Grade 2 and CAN /ULC S704, Type 2, Class 2. ENRGY 3 and ISO 3 specialty products are also available as tapered panels, precut miters and precut crickets. Use ENRGY 3 and ISO 3 provide high thermal insulation value over metal, nailable and non - nailable roof decks in built -up, modified bitumen and single ply membrane roofing systems. It may be applied using hot bitumen, cold adhesives or mechanical fasteners. The universal facer on both the top and bottom provides a suitable surface for mechani- cal attachmentto a structural deck as well as a suitable surface to apply hot asphalt or cold adhesives. ENRGY 3 and ISO 3 are rated in FM Global® fire- and wind - resistant systems for BUR, modified bitu- men and single ply systems in specific constructions. It has been classified by UL® as an approved roof insulation in many Class A roof constructions and Roof /Ceiling hourly fire -rated assemblies, and is classified by Underwriters' Laboratories of Canada. JM supports NRCA Bulletin #9 in recommending that a cover board of Fesco® Board or %z' (1.27 cm) Retro -Fit' Board be installed over foam insulations in hot bituminous membrane systems. The minimum ambient and surface temperatures should be 40 °F unless the winter formulation is being dispensed. Surface Preparation: Lightweight Concrete, Structural Concrete, and Plywood; surfaces must be free of any debris, dirt, oil, grease and standing water before applying OlyBond500 SpotShot. Built up (BUR) and modified bitumen roof system surfaces must be free of any debris, dirt, oil, grease and standing water. Contact OMG for details. Steel deck (bonding surface) must be free of debris, dirt, grease, oil and standing water. On new steel, the shop coating must be removed. The bonding surface must be free of any cleaner before applying OlyBond500 SpotShot. OlyBond500 SpotShot is approved by most systems manufacturers and is approved by FM and Miami Dade. Insulation: Review the roofing insulation plan. Isocyanurate insulation boards to be attached can be no larger than 4' x 4'. Multiple layers of boards should use the staggered joint method of application. Existing Polyurethane Foam The surface of the polyurethane roof, including the coating, should be removed with a scarifier (minimum '/2 "). The bonding surface should be blown clean before applying OlyBond500 SpotShot. Metal: OlyBond500 has excellent adhesion to clean metal. It is recommended that all non - ferrous metals (aluminum, copper, stainless, etc.) be primed to further increase adhesion. Accepted primers include epoxy, chlorinated rubber, and wash primer. Product Installation: Attach the static mixing tip to the top of the SpotShot tube. Insert the tube into the SpotShot dispensing tool and squeeze the handle to dispense at a 1:1 ratio through the static mixing tip and on to the substrate in a semi liquid state. The fluid mixture is applied in rows spaced 12" on center that spread to several inches wide before rising 3/4" to 1 inch. The insulation board is then laid into place and walked in to assure complete adhesion. Curing takes place in 4 to 8 minutes. Typical coverage rates are between 400 to 600 square feet per case. The application rate must be increased for rougher surfaces and coverage rate will vary depending on roughness. Reaction Time: It is important to monitor the speed of the reaction in relation to the temperature (substrate and ambient) at time of application to ensure a complete reaction. Note the chart below for correct 'Part 2' component selection: Typical Handling Characteristics (Tack Free and Set Up Time, minutes) TEMPERATURE PART 2 TACK FREE SET UP 400-90 "F R 8 12 400-0 °F W 4 12 Important: When applying OlyBond500 SpotShot, board stock must be placed into the adhesive while it is still wet and tacky (before it reaches its tack free state). Insulation boards may be placed into the adhesive shortly after it has reached its maximum rise. This typically occurs within 2 minutes. Refer to the CertainTeed Commercial Roof Systems Specification Manual for complete product installation details and requirements. Below is a general guideline: Deck Preparation. CertainTeed recommends the use of FLINTLASTIC SA NailBase in conjunction with all self- adhering membrane roof installations on nailable substrates. Non - nailable roof decks may receive direct application of FLINTLASTIC SA PlyBase or FLINTLASTIC SA Mid Ply followed by FLINTLASTIC SA Cap provided the deck is thoroughly primed using FLINTLASTIC SA Primer. It should be noted without the use of a nailable base sheet the membrane may be difficult to remove if removal is ever warranted, and certain UL listings for the product may not apply. Product Non- Nailable Substrates: Prime non - nailable substrates such as concrete using FlintPrime' SA Application at the rate of .20 -.25 gals /square. Allow primer to dry, maximum 4 hours. Apply PlyBase directly to the primed surface. Overlap base sheet sidelaps 3" and endlaps 6 ". Always start membrane application at the low point of the roof and install all plies so that no laps are against the flow of water. Offset endlaps minimum 36 ". Once positioned, fold back the membrane halfway lengthwise and remove the release film, then ease back into place. Or, lift the end of the membrane and pull the split release film out as you walk the length of the membrane. Repeat release film removal procedure with other side of membrane. Cut opposing corners of endlaps diagonally to minimize "T" seam joints and seal using FlintBond- SBS modified bitumen adhesive, trowel or caulk grade. Use a heavy, weighted roller to smooth and secure the membrane. Apply a bead of FlintBond adhesive to side and endlaps. Permanent top surface film is left in place.
