These pipes meet the requirements of American Water Works Association standard ANSI/AWWA C -900. MATERIALS Pipe is manufactured from virgin PVC compound meeting the requirements of cell class 12454 - B as defined by ASTM D -1784, Standard Specification for Rigid Poly(Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Compounds. These compounds have a hydrostatic design basis rating of 4,000 psi for water at 73.4 °F. The compound is certified by NSF International to ANSINNSF Standard 61. PIPE Pipes are manufactured e Cast Iron Outside Diameter nominal size series for use as a pressure conduit. T e DR -14 R -18, and DR -25 wall thickness class pipes are rated as Pressure Class 200, 150 and 100 respectively. Pressure Classes refer to working pressure ratings in water service at 73.4 °F, which provide a 2 foot per second surge allowance with a 2.5:1 long term hydrostatic design safety factor. The pipe utilizes a "locked in" integral gasket joint design meeting the requirements of ASTM D -3139, Standard Specification for Joints for Plastic Pressure Pipes Using Flexible Elastomeric Seals. The gaskets are reinforced with a steel band and conform to the requirements of ASTM F -477, Standard Specification for Elastomeric Seals (Gaskets) for Joining Plastic Pipes. Pressure Class 150 (DR -18) and Pressure Class 200 (DR- 14) pipes are listed with Underwriters Laboratories and Factory Mutual for use in fire protection service. Pipe markings are as specified in ANSI/AWWA C -900. TEST REQUIREMENTS Quality assurance testing is as required by ANSI/AWWA C -900. As part of that testing, each length of pipe, including the integral bell, is hydrostatic pressure tested as four times the pressure class rating of the pipe for a minimum dwell period of five (5) seconds. Device shall be recognized under independent certification and shall be SIGMAOne- Lokorapproved equal. One -Lok Installation Instructions 1. Clean fitting socket and pipe end. Lubricate gasket and pipe end with soapy water (or approved pipe lubricant meeting AWWA C111). Install One -Lok restrainer on the pipe with the lip extension facing the pipe end, followed by the gasket, tapered side toward pipe end. Insert pipe into the fitting outlet and seat the gasket firmly and evenly into the gasket cavity. Maintain a straight joint during assembly. 3. For installation on C -900 PVC pipe Do Not Remove ABS spacers from wedge bolts. For installation on IPS PVC pipe, Twist break and remove the ABS spacers from the wedge bolts to assure proper pipe contact. Hand tighten all One -Lok wedge bolts until complete contact of the gripping segments is made with the pipe. 2. Push the One -Lok gland toward the fitting and center it around the pipe with the lip evenly against the gasket. Insert the T -bolts and hand - tighten them in an alternating manner maintaining an even gap between the gland and the fitting face at all points around the socket. Repeat until all the T- bolts have been tightened to the requirements of AWWA C -600 (latest revision). Using Twenty -First Century technology, Ames has succeeded in the manufacture of a durable and easy to install underground transition fitting to bring municipal water supply into a building. In- Building Riser is ideally suited for fire protection systems. UN Specification The In- Building Riser shall be composed of a single extended 90 degree fitting of fabricated 304 stainless steel tubing, maxi- mum working pressure of 175psi. The fitting shall have a grooved -end connection on the outlet (building) side and a CIPS coupler on the underground (inlet) side. ■ Operating Description The In- Building Riser is used to connect the main fire supply to the building overhead fire system. The fitting passes under the foundation without joints and extends up through the floor. Provided with installation tabs, the unit has a CIPS (Cast Iron Pipe Size) coupler for easy connection to the under- ground supply (AWWA C900 PVC) and (Ductile Iron Pipe) an industry standard grooved -end connection (AWWA C606) on the building side for easy connection to the overhead fire sprinkler system. S- A- InBuildingRiser ■ Features /Benefits • Cost savings • Corrosion resistant stainless steel construction, type 304SST • Ease of installation and lightweight allow one person to position and handle the riser • Minimal site preparation; joint restraint one- piece- construction reduces time and labor; no missing parts, no leaks; easily identifiable for approvals • UIJFM approved • Sizes: available in 4" — 10" with various lengths to meet all local requirements • Designed to meet NFPA 24 Section 8 -3.2 • AWWA C900 Inlet/DIP • AWWA C606 Outlet ExcELLENCE MATTERS — SPECIFY IT! P& A Division of Watts Industries A M E S 875 National Drive • Suite #107 • Sacramento, CA 95834 • Phone: 916 - 928 -0123 • Fax: 916 - 928 -9333 FIRE & WATERWORKS`' www.amesfirewater.com 1 4 . Ames In- Building Risers are precision engineered and manu- factured to provide exceptional reliability. The In- Building Riser significantly reduces installation time and labor costs associ- ated with field assembly. In accordance with NFPA -24, the UUFM Approved In- Building Riser replaces numerous fittings, elbows and spools, and reduces the possibility of leaks or failure in comparison to tra- ditional installation methods and materials. Factory tested integrity ensures the highest quality installation. The use of stainless steel significantly increases the reliability and life of the Riser.
