This provides sprinkler operation approxi- mately six times faster than ordinary sprinklers. While the Quick Response Sprinkler provides an aesthetically pleasing appearance, it can be installed wherever standard spray sprinklers are specified when allowed by the applicable standards. It offers the additional feature of greatly increased safety to life and is available in various styles, orifices, temperature ratings and finishes to meet many varying design require- ments. Quick Response Sprinklers should be used advisedly and under the direction of approving authorities having jurisdiction. The heart of Globe's GL Series sprinkler proven actuating assembly is a hermetically sealed frangible glass ampule that contains a precisely measured amount of fluid. When heat is absorbed, the liquid within the bulb expands increasing the internal pressure. At the prescribed temperature the internal pressure within the ampule exceeds the strength of the glass causing the glass to shatter. This results in water discharge which is distributed in an approved pattern depending upon the deflector style used. The sprinkler and escutcheon are not factory assembled. As- sembly is done in the field. ti l414VIJ!' QUICK RESPONSE UPRIGHT CONVENTIONAL 4 i TECHNICAL DATA QUICK RESPONSE PENDENT VERTICAL • See reverse side for Approvals and Specifications. I FLexHead systems connect sprinkler heads to sprinkler sub -mains in about a quarter of the time it takes to install hard pipe. Add in the fact that less- skilled people can do the work, and you're looking at significant productivity gains. Expect even greater savings in retrofits, where FLexHead installs six to seven times faster than hard pipe. Everything about FLexHead says "fast installation." You don't need to install bracing or hangers. There's no on -site assembly. Every sprinkler connection is a finished, pre- constructed assembly, from the 1" pipe connector to the sprinkler head outlet. You pay a little more for FLexHead connections compared to black iron armovers. But their labor savings far exceed the materials premium. Instattation is simple It doesn't matter whether the sprinkler head is semi - recessed, full pendant or fully concealed, it's a snap to attach to a FLexHead connection system. The hydraulic toss of the FlexHead connector needs to be included in the hydraulic design calculations the same as a valve or fitting. Each FlexHead sprinkler drop has a 3 " minimum bend radius per UL guidelines, and a 7" minimum bend radius per FM guidelines. ' Equivalent lengths are shown with 3 bends. Different values were obtained by FM and UL due to the differences in minimum bend radius, testing protocol and calculation methods. Please see individual testing standards for more information relative to friction loss (Equivalent Length of Pipe). True -bore 1 -inch internal diameters produce friction loss values similar to hard -pipe armovers. FM approved and UL listed All FlexHead sprinkler connections are Factory Mutual Approved and Underwriters Laboratories Listed for suspended or Sheetrock ceiling installations. Tests include hydrostatic pressure, vibration, friction loss, fatigue, head deployment, corrosion and water hammer. Our commercial connections also conform to these industry standards: i — Approved for use in suspended ceilings with light, medium, and heavy-load grids (ASTM C -635 and C -636) They're the only flexible sprinkler connection qualified for use in Seismic Design Categories C, D,E and F International Building Code (IBC) compliant without needing an unsightly oversized ring, sleeve or adaptor where the ceiling meets the sprinkler head ® Compatible with BlazeMaster' fire sprinkler systems Meets NFPA 13 guidelines Fully guaranteed FlexHead has always maintained a commitment to quality. We pressure- and leak -test every FlexHead connection at our FM- and UL- audited factory. Burst pressures exceed 3,000 pounds. Every product is covered by our comprehensive limited warranty. Choose the length you need FlexHead connections are available in 2', 3', 4', 5' and 6' hose lengths, and easily fit any sprinkler head on the market Outlets can accommodate both 1 /2" and 3/4 sprinkler heads. Robust Construction. The WFD series consists of a rugged, NEMA 4 rated enclosure. Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, the WFD series operates across a wide temperature range, from 32 °F to 120 °E Reliable Performance. UL listed models are equipped with tamper resistant cover screws to prevent unauthorized entry. Inside, two sets of SPDT (Form Q synchronized switches are enclosed in a durable terminal block to assure reliable performance. False Alarm Immunity. The WFD series incorporates a mechanical .retard fea- ture, which minimizes the risk of false alarm due to pressure surges or air trapped in the sprinkler system. In addition, the mechanical retard's unique sealed design is immune to dust and other. contaminants. Simplified Operation. The WFD series is designed to simplify installation. Two conduit openings permit easy attachment to the local alarm system. The retard mechanism and dual SPDT switches are field - replaceable. Reliable Model G Riser Right-Check T11 Valves are intended for installation in wet pipe fire protection system risers and preaction systems using supervisory air as low as 1 psi (0,07 bar). The Riser Valve and Trim Kit (Figure 1) with a water flow detector can provide an electric alarm, and is a cost effective alternative to an alarm valve in installations not requiring a mechanical alarm. Riser Valves are factory tapped for 1' /a" (or 2 ") NPT and tie' NPT system connections and for ' /a" NPT supply connection (Ref. Figure 2). Grooved end connections provide fast and easy installation using listed or approved mechanical grooved couplings. Rigid style grooved couplings can be used for positive clamping to resist flexural and torsional loads. Riser Right- CheckTM Valves and associated riser equipment should periodically be given a thorough inspection and test. NFPA 25 provides minimum maintenance requirements. Check valves should be inspected and operated at least annually. Parts should be replaced as required. When Model G Riser Valves are installed vertically, the direction of the flow arrow must point upward. For horizontal installations, the hinge pin must be located at the top. In preaction systems, the valves must be installed vertically. Valve Description 1. Rated working pressure - 250 psi (17,2 bar). 2. Factory hydrostatic test pressure - 500 psi (34,5 bar). 3.
