S ncer y, an Ct s J Unimode-SUBROUD Five Zone Fire Alarm Gaming Panel Ten Zone Fire Alarm Conti ®9 Panel General The UNIMODE -51.1D is a fivo-zone FACP (Fire Alarm Control Panel) and the UNIMODE-10UD is a ten -zone FACR These control panels provide reliable fire signaling protection for small to medium -sized commercial, industrial, and Institutional buildings. Both panels include built -in communicators for Cen- tral Station Service and remote upload /download. Each of these FACPs is compatible with System Sensor's microprocessor -based i3 series detectors. These conventional smoke detectors can transmit a maintenance trouble signal to the FACP indicating the need for cleaning and a supervisory "freeze" signal when the ambient temperature falls below the detector rating. Additionally, both the UNIMODE -5UD and UNIMODE-1OUD are compatible with conventional input devices such as two- and four -wire smoke detectors, pull sta- tions, waterflow devices, tamper switches, and other normally - open contact devices. Refer to ADT Device Compatibility Doc- ument for a complete fisting of compatible devices. Outputs include four NACs (Notification Appliance Circuits), three programmable Farm -C relays (factory programmed for Alarm, Trouble, and Supervisory) and 24 VDC special applica- lion resettable and nonresettable power outputs. The FACPs supervise all wiring, AC voltage, battery level and telephone line Integrity. Activation of a compatible smoke detector or any normally - open fire alarm initiating device will activate audible and visual signaling devices, illuminate an indicating LED, sound the piezo sounder at the FACP, activate the communicator and FACP alarm relay, and operate an optional module used to notify a remote station or initiate an auxiliary control function. Refer to the installation instruction manual of the detector base to make use of this capability. Testing Before testing, notify the proper authorities that the heat detector system is undergoing maintenance, and therefore the system will temporarily be out of service. Disable the zone or system undergoing maintenance to prevent unwanted alarms. Detectors must be tested after installation and periodic maintenance. The 5451 may be tested as follows: A. Test Magnet (System Sensor Model No. M02 -04) 1. Position the magnet against the cover opposite the test module socket. (See Figure 1.) 2. The LEDs on the detector should light within 10 sec- onds. If the LEDs fail to light, check the power to the detector and the wiring in the detector base. 3. Reset the detector at the system control panel. Figure 1. Strobe options for wall mount models include 1575cd or the Wheelock patented MCW multi - candela wall strobes with field selectable candela settings of 15/301751110cd, or the high intensity MCWH strobe with field selectable 135/185cd. Ceiling mount models incorporate Wheelock's patented MCC multi - candela ceiling strobe with field selectable intensities of 15/30/75/95cd or the high intensity MCCH strobe with field selectable 115/177cd. The audible provides a selectable choice of either a continuous horn or temporal pattern (Code 3) when constant voltage from a Fire Alarm Panel (FACP) is applied. Each tone has 3 dBA settings to choose from. When used with the Wheelock Series SM or DSM Sync Module or Wheelock PS- 24 -BMC Power Supplies with Patented Sync Protocol, synchronization of the continuous horn tone provides the temporal (code 3) tone (mandated by NFPA 72) simultaneously for all audible appliances. This ensures a distinct temporal (code 3) pattern when 2 or more audibles are within hearing distance. If not synchronized the temporal sound could overlap and not be distinctive. At the same time the strobes will be synchronized. This provides the ability to comply with ADAguidelines concerning photosensitive epilepsy and the NFPA standards when installing 2 or more visual appliances within the field of view all of this plus the ability to silence the audible is achieved by using only 2 wire. uL FM ® M EA APPROVED E5946 151 -92 -E 71250785:131 S5391 Features • Approvals include: UL Standard 1971, UL Standard 464 New York City (MEA), California State Fire Marshal (CSFM), Factory Mutual (FM), and Chicago (BFP). YE' s OWBLCE '„ „';r/ /;;;or ®r Sealed Lead -Acid Batteries FE4TURES Sealed/Maintenance -Free The valve regulated, spill -prof construction of the Power -Sonic battery allows trouble-free, safe operation in any position. There is no need to add electrolyte, as gases generated during over- charge are recombined in a unique "oxygen cycle.” Easy Handling No special handling precautions or shipping containers — surface or air — are required due to leak -proof construction. Economical The high watt-hour per dollar value is made possible by the materials used in a sealed lead -acid battery: they are readily available and low in cost Long Service Life Under normal operating conditions, four or five years of depend- able service life can be expected in stand -by applications, or between 200 and 1000 charge/ discharge cycles depending on the average depth of discharge. Design Flexibility Batteries may be used in series and/or parallel to obtain choice of voltage and capacity. Due to recent design breakthroughs, the same battery may be used in either cyclic or standby appli- cations. Over 40 models are available to choose from. Rugged Construction The high impact resistant battery case is made either of non- conductive ABS plastic or styrene. Large capacity batteries fre- quently have polypropylene cases. Al of these materials impart great resistance to shock, vibration, chemicals and heat Compact Power -Sonic batteries use state -of -the -art design, high grade materials, and a carefully controlled plate - making process to provide excellent output per cell. The high energy density results in superior power/volume and power/weight ratios. High Discharge Rate Low internal resistance allows discharge currents of up to ten times the rated capacity of the battery. Relatively small batteries may thus be specified in applications requiring high peak currents. Long Shelf Life A low self- discharge rate permits storage of fully charged batteries for up to a year at room temperature before charging is required. Lower storage temperatures enhance shelf life characteristics even further. Wide Operating Temperature Range Power -Sonic batteries may be discharged over a temperature range of -20'C to +60'C ( -4'F to +140'F) and charged at temperatures ranging from 20'C to +50 °C (-47 to +122'F). Deep Discharge Recovery Special separators, advanced plate composition, and a carefully balanced electrolyte system have greatly improved the ability of recovering from excessively deep discharge.
