facade. Tabled 7/13/00.
Mr. Padgett moved to remove from the table. Seconded by Ms. Ransom. All in favor. Motion carried.
Jennifer Daniels, 901 S. Magnolia Avenue, was present. She stated that she would like load bearing columns
erected in the front of the house. They know that the columns were there at one point. In order to make repairs to
the roof, the columns are needed. The structure as it is will not support the weight of a man to make the repairs.
They would like to make is sound.
Ms. Ransom stated that the arch definitely shows some signs that there could have been columns there. From
looking at the structure and the arch, she feels that the columns were probably there, by not having columns there,
the integrity of the arch would not be compromised. However, dividing the one arch into three would compromise
the arch. She stated that she would hate to see the long arch compromised. Putting in the three arches bothers her
architecturally. She has no problem with putting in the columns.
Mr. Padgett stated that he did not have a problem with the columns or putting in the three arches. Mr. Singeisen
stated that there are other options to preserve the arch. Ms. Farrell stated that she has a problem with the
materials for the columns, the rocks. This is a very mid - western type treatment for columns.
