Applications for Certificates of Appropriateness — Residential District a. 504 Myrtle Ave. Construct new house (con't from 6/12/03) b. 1220 Magnolia Ave. Construct wood shadow box fence C. 613 Magnolia Ave. Install motorized canvass awning on rear deck 6. Minor Reviews 7. 6 -month Reviews 306 W. 6 th St. Construct vinyl picket fence 8. Chairman and Board's items for discussion 9. Adjournment MINUTES HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD MEETING July 10, 2003 5:00 PM CITY COMMISSION CHAMBERS CITY HALL, SANFORD, FLORIDA MEMBERS PRESENT: Steve Myers Stephanie Powers Maria Shreve Leslie Stevens Alec Then Rey Sylvester Barbara Farrell MEMBERS ABSENT: Scott Singeisen Thomas Goodman Denny Gibbs STAFF PRESENT: Antonia Gerli, Staff Liaison Jo -Ann Johnson, Recording Secretary The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Mr. Sylvester. Item 3 — Approval of the Minutes from June 12, 2003 Motion was made to approve by Ms. Farrell. Seconded by Ms. Stevens. Motion carried 6 -0. Applications for Certificates of Appropriateness — Commercial District Item 4a — 201 W 1 st St., Dean Shoemaker, 2701 w 25 St., contractor for the Paulucci Building, presented the board with an application for approval of 2nd story addition to the rear of the building. Mr. Then questioned the height of the addition. Ms. Farrell made motioned to approve as submitted. Seconded by Ms. Stevens. Motion carried 6 -0. 5:08 Mr. Myers entered meeting. Applications for Certificates of Appropriateness — Residential District Item 5b — 1220 Magnolia Ave., Donna L. Pearson, owner is requesting approval for a 6' wood shadowbox style fence with posts on the outside. Historic Preservation Board Meeting July 10, 2003 Page 2 Motion to approve was made by Mr. Then. Seconded by Mr. Myers. Motion carried 7 -0. Item 5c - 613 Magnolia Ave., Tim J. Dix, owner is applying for a motorized awning over the deck at the rear of the property. Awning cover will be cream colored. Motion to approve as submitted was made by Ms. Farrell. Seconded by Ms. Stevens. Motion carried 6 -0 (Then recused). Item 5a - 504 Myrtle Ave., Mr. Giuliani of Landmark Construction presented the board with an application to construct a new single family residence at this location. Mr. Giuliani stated that the rear overhang was going to be extended to 8' rather than the 5' stipulated on the submitted drawings. Motion to approve as submitted with final approval of roof lines to be done by staff was made by Mr. Then. Seconded by Mr. Myers. Motion carried 6 -0 (Shreve and Farrell recused). Item 7 - Minor Reviews Mr. Then mentioned the staff approval of 515 Magnolia Ave. Pressure treated wood, style was not described. Item 8 — 6 -month Reviews Item 7 - Chairman and Board's items for discussion Ms. Powers — asked if anyone had submitted comments regarding the new C of A applications. Mr. Then — asked about lights going down at 2nd St. and Magnolia, does city have a C of A and has it expired? He inquired regarding the lights on the Jernigan property. He also asked about board members attending conferences. Ms. Farrell — voiced concerns regarding the Bishop Block Building and code enforcement actions and C of A's on the property. Bill Kirchoff mentioned that the downtown brochures needed to be redone. Ms. Shreve — mentioned that the house at the corner of 3 rd and Oak that had received a C of A for house moving was not going to be moved. There being no further business the board adjourned at 6:45p.m.
