Elm Avenue Add 6" wood trim around windows and doors 314 W. 3 rd Street Install white metal front door 107 W. 9 th Street Install wooden front door with art glass; Install wooden rear door Minor Reviews 6 -month Reviews 300 E. 2 nd Street Replace garage door with wooden French doors 208 Sanford Ave. Construct metal garage 217 S. Park Ave. Remove Texaco signs; Install Valero signs 507 Magnolia Ave. Install ground- mounted sign 1210 Palmetto Ave. Install 2 metal -framed canvass carports 1206 Park Ave. Install metal front door with art glass; Install rear metal door; Install plastic lattice skirting; Install wooden side entry door 1105 Myrtle Ave. Replace rear aluminum window with wood window; Install leaded glass window. 306 W. 6 t " Street Replace roof with metal roof, remove 2 skylights and chimney. 1015 Elm Ave. Construct front porch 1201 Oak Ave. Add 2 wood windows Chairman and Board's items for discussion 8. MINUTES HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD MEETING February 12, 2004 5:00 PM CITY COMMISSION CHAMBERS CITY HALL, SANFORD, FLORIDA MEMBERS PRESENT Rey Sylvester Alec Then Stephanie Powers Barbara Farrell Steve Myers Tom Goodman Maria Shreve Leslie Stevens MEMBERS ABSENT Denny Gibbs Item 1 - the meeting was called to order at 5:08 P.M. Item 2 - Roll Call Item 3 - Approval of Minutes — Ms. Farrell noted corrections to board members comments from previous meeting, she did comment on Rubyjuice, but not on the building at 2nd and Oak. Mr. Myers commented on that. Mr. Then made the motion to approve with amendments. Ms. Stevens seconded. Motion carried 8 -0. Item 4 — Applications for Certificates of Appropriateness — Residential District Item 4A — 1104 Oak Avenue, construct new house, Joe E. King, owners, John Giuliani of Landmark Development, presenting. Ms. Powers made the motion to approve amending as follows: option to allow applicant to use vinyl clad wood 1/1 windows or aluminum 4/1 windows, a/c moved to rear, wood door to match windows, added lattice detail as submitted. Ms. Shreve seconded. Motion carried 7 -0 (Farrell recused). Tom Goodman exited meeting at 5:40 p.m. Item 4B — 918 Elm Avenue, add 6" wood trim around windows and doors, Alan & Colleen Spring of 910 Elm Avenue presenting. Mr. Then made the motion to uphold staff recommendation to deny the application since the requested alteration is not consistent to the style of the house. Ms. Stevens seconded the motion. Motion carried 7 -0. Historic Preservation Board February 12, 2004 Page 2 Item 4c — 314 W. 3 rd Street, Mr. Vihlen requested continuance due to illness. Mr. Sylvester moved to continue until March meeting. Ms. Shreve seconded. Motion carried 6 -1 (Then). Item 4d —107 W. 9th Street, Jimmy Wallace, owner, presenting request to install a wooden front door with art glass, and a wooden rear door. Mr. Wallace withdrew the request for the front door. Mr. Then made a motion to approve amending solid wood rear door to single light at top and wood panels on bottom. Mr. Sylvester seconded. Motion carried 7 -0. Item 5 - Minor Reviews Mr. Myers asked if applications could be more specific and state type of roof rather than just shingle or metal, i.e. standing seam metal or asphalt shingle roof. Item 6 — 6 -Month Reviews 300 E 2nd Street, work was stopped, no permits issued. building has been sitting open, needs to go to code enforcement. Item 7 - Chairman and Board's items for discussion The Board discussed various properties where work is being done without Certificates of Appropriateness. Changes to Schedule S — The Board discussed having a workshop to address changes to Schedule S at the one -year anniversary of its adoption. Variance procedures and process - can city attorney address the board regarding this issue?
