WORK SESSION
The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Work Session
on Monday, August 26, 2019, at 5:00 PM, in the Railroad Depot Room, 2nd Floor, City
Hall, 300 North Park Avenue, Sanford, Florida.

Mayor Triplett called the meeting to order at 5:10 PM.
Mr. Bonaparte, City Manager, introduced Chief Smith of the Police
Department. Chief Smith presented eight of the nine new officers and had them introduce
themselves. The officers are in their third week of training with Officer Nigel Price.
1. Destination Marketing by Christina Hollerbach.
Mr. George gave a brief description and introduction to Christina Hollerbach on the
Destination Marketing Initiative. Ms. Hollerbach presented a power point presentation
featuring all events happening in the City of Sanford, the advantages of cohesive and
unified branding as destination marketing and resurrecting Sanford Main Street Inc. Main
Street is a four -point approach (Economic Vitality, Design, Organization and Promotion)
to allow for funding and grant opportunities. Collectively the board will be using their own
efforts for funding, raising money through special events and grants. In the future, they

look forward to having a public private partnership with the City of Sanford and Seminole
County. Mr. George stated the City has funds available in the Communications and
Economic Development funds that can be used for this type of marketing. Charles Davis,
Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Chairman is interested in learning more how
the CRA can get involved. Ms. Hollerbach will present the Commission with more
information after their meeting with Seminole County.
2. Communications Update by Lisa Holder, Communications Officer.
Ms. Holder presented a power point presentation on Digital
Communications, Social Media, Pod Cast and Zen City. She also reminded everyone that
the Citizen's Academy is beginning on September 11, 2019.
3. Regular Meeting Items — additional information
A. Ordinance No. 4511, modifying Schedule D (RM 7.C)
Mayor Triplett requested to continue this item to the September 26, 2019
meeting allowing for at least a (30) minute discussion at the beginning of the Work Session.
B. Use of reserves for capital items and the Mellonville Facility (RM 8.A)
Mayor Triplett recommended the Commission approve this item at tonight's
meeting.
4. Regular Meeting Items
Traci Houchin, City Clerk, reminded the Commission that Board Appointments are
coming up. The Commission agreed they do not want to interview for positions if the

members would like to be reappointed. Ms. Houchin will place this item on the September
26, 2019 Work Session.
5. City Manager Comments
Vice Mayor Woodruff will have two items at this evenings meeting.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:13 P.M.
