AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
AMENDING SCHEDULE K SECTION 3.4 PARAGRAPHS
B AND C, POLITICAL CAMPAIGN SIGNS, OF TFIF. CITY
OF SANFORD LAND DEVie. J-OPMENT REGULATIONS TO
ALLOW FOR TH~F~ PLACEMENT OF POLITICAL
CAMPAIGN SIGNS, AT ANY TIME AFTER THE
CANDIDATE HAS QUAL~IED, AND ALLOWING FOR
APPEALS TO ~ CTrY COMMISSION FOR CAMPAIGN
SIGN DEPOSIT REFUNDS; PROVIDING FOR
CODIFICATION; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY,
CONFLICTS AND EffECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, It is the desire of the City Commission of the City of Sanford to amend
Schedule K, Section 3.4, Political Campaign Signs, of the Land Development Regulations of
the City of Sanford to address the display of political campaign signs and the appeal process
for funds placed on deposit; and
NOW, THF~REFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE~, CITY
OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Schedule K, Section 3.4, Political Campaign Signs paragraphs
B and C, be amended as follows:
Display time frame. The signs may be displayed at any time after the candidate has
qualified and seven (7) days at~er the election for which intended. In case a
final election follows a primary election, candidates who won in the primary
election may continue to display their campaign signs during the interim
, period and up to seven (7) days after the final election.
Deposit and forfeiture. Each candidate shall pay to the city a deposit of one hundred
($100) dollars prior to erecting placing or otherwise locating any political
campaign sign. Said deposit shall be refunded to the candidate if all signs are
removed within the seven days after the candidate is either elected or defeated
in the election in question. In the event that all political campaign signs are
not removed within seven days at~er the candidate is either elected or
defeated, the one hundred ($100) dollar deposit shall be forfeited to the city.
In the event that a candidate' s campaign sign is located in a street right-of-
way, that candidate's deposit shall be forfeited. The appeals for deposit
refunds may be made to the City Commission.
SECTION 2: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
be and the same are hereby revoked;
