ORDINANCE NO. 3607
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
AMENDING SECTION 2-112, ARTICLE VII, SCENIC
IMPROVEMENT BOARD OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
OF THE CITY OF SANFORD TO ELIMINATE TERM LIMITS
FOR BOARD MEMBERS, PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY,
CONFLICTS, CODIFICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sanford City Commission deems it in the best interest of the
City to amend Section 2-112, Article VII, Scenic Improvement Board of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Sanford to eliminate term limits for board members.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF
SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: Section 2-112, Terms, organization; officers, meetings, of Article VII,
Scenic Improvement Board is hereby deleted in its entirety and substituted with the
following:
Sec. 2-112. Terms, organization, officers; meetings.
The members of the board created by this article shall be appointed
for a term of three (3) years; three (3) of the initial board members shall be
appointed for a term of three (3) years, two (2) of the initial board members
shall be appointed for terms of two (2) years, and two (2) of the initial board
members shall be appointed for the term of one (1) year; thereafter, the
terms shall be three (3) years. Immediately upon appointment, the members
of the scenic improvement board shall meet and organize and shall elect
from among the membership a chairman, a vice-chairman and a secretary,
whose terms of office shall be for a period of one year or until their
successors are elected by the members of the board. The scenic
improvement board shall conduct such meetings as may be necessary to
properly perform its duties and functions and shall establish rules or bylaws
to govern the manner in which its meetings and affairs are conducted.
SECTION 2: Severabilitv. If any section or portion of a section of this Ordinance
proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitutional it shall not be held to impair the validity,
force or effect of any other section or part of a section of this Ordinance.
SECTION 3: Conflicts. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby revoked.
SECTION 4: Codification. It is the intention of the City Commission of the City of
Sanford, Florida, and it is hereby ordained that the provisions of this Ordinance shall
become and be made a part of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sanford, Florida; that
the Sections of this Ordinance may be renumbered or relettered to accomplish such
intention; that the word, "Ordinance," may be changed to "Section," "Article," or other
appropriate word.
SECTION 5: Effective Date. That this Ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon its passage and adoption.
