Add On Items/New Business:
1. Mardi Gras PiZZa .Fondo; Saturday, February 15, 2020; Bicycle ride from Sanford to New
Smyrna. Event hours 5 _ lvl — 2,30 PNi; includes set-up and break down; applicant is requesting a
street closure of Seminole Boulevard from Palmetto Avenue to Sanford Avenue. Jennifer Brooks
suggested utilizing an option that doesn't require a street closure. Applicant prefers the route with
street closures in order to have a easily recognizable start/stop. The applicant would also like
portable restrooms. City services will be required if the applicant decides to utilize street closures.
Fire Department confirmed they will not be on-site. The applicant inquired about grants and
Jennifer Brooks suggested CRA and Tourism Board. She will forward contact information.
2. Sanford Reggae, Rum and Spirits Festival; Saturday, March 14, 2020; Possible street closure
pattern is Myrtle Avenue, from 3`d to the south side of 1St Street; and Myrtle from the north side of
1" Street to Fulton Avenue. Tentative stage locations are north side of Henry's Train Depot with the
stage facing south. A second stage will be on the northwest corner of Myrtle and 2nd Street.
Additional discussion about stage placement may be necessary due to the impact on residences. The
applicant is requesting an attended crosswalk at 1St Avenue and Myrtle Avenue. Due to already
approved events, the applicant will seek alternative dates.
3. Sanford Indie Market 2020; The applicant is requesting street closures of Myrtle Avenue, from
1St to Std; and 2" Street, from Laural Avenue to Oak Avenue.
4. Seminole Mega RV Show; No representative was present. This is a recurring event, and staff
had no questions. The applicant is requesting to host the event during three dates in 2020; 2/14-
2/23; 5/29-6/7; and 9/25-10/4.
Staff Reports/Discussion:
1. Christmas in the Square: Staff had concerns with alcohol being taken from the premises of
Hollerbachs into the event space. There is also a need for portable restrooms.
2. Parade of Lights; Police staff suggest lighting for the grass area at the dispursement location.
Portable restrooms near the dispursement area was also suggested.
3. The drop-off location should also have a representative from the parade entry in the area if
they are having participants dropped off. Police staff was also concerened about ATV safety.
One entry had children on top of an ATV that was loaded on a trailer.
4. Jingle Jam; The applicant is considering an earlier set-up time. Also stated they felt they were
(lii: getit in notifying local business of the event, but the day of the event, there were still
questions about what was going on. No trouble was reported; Sanford Fire Department
would like all food trucks and vendors on Sanford Avenue to be pushed backed as far as
possible to allow as much space as possible in case of an emergency. The location of the
kids' zone in the parking lot worked great.
5. Tour of Homes; Applicant felt they lost participation due to the lack of parking and the extra
traffic in the area with Jingle Jam on the same day. They felt the use of golf carts helped
them, but have a few issues to work out with the golf cart duties. Street closures were a
slight issue in the beginning, but will be corrected via better communication with Police
staff. They are also considering holding the next event on Mellonville Avenue, between 20t'
and 25th Streets. The next anticipated date is 12/5/2020.
6. St. John's River Art Festival; The Mayor is requesting a reduced timeline for Friday of the
event. Follow up with the applicant is required.
