Congratulations on purchasing a Windsor garage door. Before using your door, read & understand the following information. Doing so will insure safe operation for years to come. A garage door is probably the largest moving object in your home. These doors are heavy and use large springs that lift & support the weight of the door. Lifting cable located along the sides of the door connect the spring to the garage door. When the door is in the closed position, the springs & cables are under maximum tension. Never attempt to remove or adjust the springs or cables. Always refer any needed service work to a trained door systems technician from your local Windsor Door dealer. A Warning GARAGE DOORS MOVE UP & DOWN WITH EXTREME FORCE Do not stand or walk unifier a moving door. Never allow children to operate the door or operator controls. Never adjust or repair the lifting spring(s), cables or bottom brackets. Never remove any red colored fasteners. Do not install pull ropes if door is electrically motor operated. Keep fingers away from hinges, rollers, tracks, cables and all moving parts. When closing or opening the door, do not put fingers between sections. Use handles or suitable gripping point. Never remove handles. Do not defeat or bypass any safety device built into your door or electric opener. SEVERE PERSONAL INJURY CAN OCCUR IF THESE WARNINGS ARE NOT FOLLOWED i ELECTRIC MOTOR OPERATED DOOR - CAUT"—" Remove door locks from garage door to prevent it from becoming accidentally locked. A reinforcing metal strut must be attached to the top door section for additional strength. A reinforcement bracket for operator reinforcement must be installed on the center stile for operator attachment. Test operator regularly per the operator manufacturers testing instructions. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DOOR OR OPENER AND WILL VOID THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY TOP DOOR SECTION Garage Door Maintenance and Repair Like any piece of mechanical equipment, garage doors do require regular maintenance and periodic service. Sticking or binding doors must be repaired. All repairs should be performed by an authorized Windsor Door dealer. e Lubrication: Every 90 days, lubricate the moving parts of the door with a light lubricating oil. However, do not lubricate plastic parts such as plastic rollers & plastic idler bearings. Inspection: Each month, look at the garage door springs, cables, rollers, pulleys, and other door hardware for signs of wear. Do not attempt to make any repairs or adjustments. If you suspect any problem;;, have a trained door systems technician make repairs. Do not attempt to repair or adjust lifting springs yourself. Balancing the Door: Periodically test the balance of your door. Start with the door closed. If the door is equipped with an electric opener, disconnect the garage door opener release mechanism so you can operate the door by hand. You should be able to lift the door smoothly and with little resistance. If you let go of the door at about waist high, it should stay without moving in either direction. If it does not, it is out of balance and should be adjusted by a trained door systems technician in strict accordance with the Windsor Door residential door installation instructions #551660. Depending upon environmental conditions, periodically wash the exterior of door with water and mild soap. This will remove salt spray and other chemicals from damaging or dulling the door finish. Professional Service: The best place to obtain knowledge and professional service for your garage door is from an authorized Windsor Door dealer. Do not attempt to repair or modify the door, the manufacturers warranty will be voided. PAINTING AND PREPARATION - OPERATOR ARM To remove residual contamination, use a hand brush and a solution of 1/2 cup of detergent per five gallons of warm water. Scrub with a soft brush to remove soil, oil and chalking. Rinse with clear water. Do not scrub warning labels. Paint door after surface preparation and door has fully dried. To assure the best possible finish, use only exterior grade latex paint for field coating. Apply two coats of water based) latex paint. Do not paint over labels.
