FOUNDATION NOTES
1. ALL CONCRETE SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM COMPRESSIVE
STRENGTH AT 28 DRYS OF 3,000 PSI, A SLUMP OF 5"
PLUS OR MINUS 1", HAVE 2 TO 5% AIR ENTRAINMENT,
AND R MAXIMUM WATER/CEMENT RATIO OF 0.63.
2. ALL CONCRETE SLABS SHALL BE 4" AS SHOWN WITH
6x6x10 WOVEN WIRE MESH OR FIBERMESH.
3. ALL REINFORCING STEEL SHALL BE NEW DOMESTIC
DEFORMED BILLET STEEL COMFORMING TO ASTM A-615
GRADE 40.
4. WELDED WIRE FABRIC SHALL CONFORM TO RSTM A-165.
WWF SHALL BE LAPPED AT LEAST 6" AND CONTAIN AT
LEAST ONE CROSS WIRE WITHIN THE 6". FIBERMIX OF
EQUAL SPECIFICATIONS MAY BE USED IN LIEU OF WWF.
5. SLABS SHALL HAVE A 6 MIL POLYETHELENE VAPOR BAR-
RIER WITH 6" LAP ENDS AND SIDES.
6. HOOKS . SHALL BE PROVIDED AT DISCONTINUOUS ENDS OF
ALL TOP BARS OF BEAMS.
7. HORIZONTAL FOOTING BARS SHALL BE BENT P-0" AROUND
CORNERS OR CORNER BARS WITH A 25" LAP PROVIDED.
8. MINIMUM LAP SPLICES ON ALL REINFORCING BAR
SPLICES SHALL BE 40 BRR DIAMETERS TYPICAL.
9. HOLLOW LOAD BEARING UNITS SHALL BE NORMAL WEIGHT,
GRADE N, TYPE 2, CONFORMING TO ASTM C90, WITH A
MINIMUM NET COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF 2,000 PSI.
10. MORTAR SHALL BE TYPE "M" OR "S", CONFORMING TO
ASTM C270.
11. COARSE GROUT SHALL CONFORM TO ASTM C476 WITH A
MINIMUM COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF 3,000 PSI SLUMP
all TO 11".
12. VERTICAL REINFORCEMENT SHALL BE AS NOTED ON THE
DRAWINGS W/ THE CELLS FILLED WITH COARSE GROUT.
13. VERTICAL REINFORCEMENT SHALL BE HELD IN POSITION
AT THE TOP AND BOTTOM AND AT R MAXIMUM SPACING
OF 192 BAR DIAMETERS, REINFORCEMENT SHALL BE
PLACED IN THE CENTER OF THE MASONRY CELL TYP-
ICALLY UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
14. REINFORCING STEEL MUST MAINTAIN 3" CLEARANCE
FROM ENDS/CHAIRS.
15. SOIL TO BE COMPACTED TO AS LEAST 98% OF MAXIMUM
DRY DENSITY AS DETERMINED BY ASTM -1557 (MODIFIED
PROCTOR) - AT NEW CONSTRUCTION ONLY. OWNER IS
RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPACTION TESTS AND DENSITIES.
16. ALL SOIL TO BE 2,000 POUNDS PER SQUARE FOOT MIN.

AND ROOFS SHALL BE PROVIDED: APPROVED CONNECTORS,
ANCHORS AND OTHER FASTENING DEVICES NOT INCLUDED
IN THE STANDARD BUILDING CODE SHALL BE INSTALLED
IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURERS RECOMMEND-
ATIONS. WHERE FASTENERS ARE NOT OTHERWISE SPECIFIED,
FASTENERS SHALL BE PROVIDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH
TABLE 1705.1 0 FTHE STANDARD BUILDING CODE (SEE
APPENDIX E), SIZES GIVEN ARE FOR COMMON WIRE NAILS.
20. ALL CONTINUOUS VERTICAL OR HORRIZONTAL BARS IN

RETE SHALL BE LAP -SPLICED WHERE NECESSARY OR DES-
IRERBLE BY WIRING, MINIMUM SPLICE AT 25".
21. LONGITUDINAL WIRES OF JOINT REINFORCEMENT SHALL BE
FULLY EMBEDDED IN MORTAR OR GROUT WITH,R MINIMUM
COVER OF 5/8" WHEN EXPOSED TO ERRTH OR WEATHER
AND 1/2" WHEN NOT EXPOSED.
22. REINFORCING STEEL SHALL BE #5 BARS. WHERE TWO #5
BARS ARE REQUIRED WITHIN THE SAME GROUTED MASONRY
CELL OR BOND BEAM, ONE #7 BRR MAY BE SUBSTITUTED.
WHEN TWO BARS RRE REQUIRED IN THE SAME CELL OR
BOND BEAM THEY MAY RLWO BE BUNDLED TOGETHER.
23. FOR FOUNDATIONS MINIMUM CONCRETE COVER OVER REIN-
FORCING BARS SHALL BE 3" IN FOUNDATIONS WHERE THE
CONCRETE IS CAST AGAINST AND PERMANENTLY IN CON-
TACT WITH THE EARTH OR 1 1/2" FOR #5 AND SMALLER
BARS AND 2" FOR #6 AND LARGER BARS WHERE CONCRETE
WILL BE EXPOSED TO EARTH OR WEATHER.
24. FOR CAST -IN-PLACE BOND BEAMS WHERE CONCRETE IS NOT
EXPOSED TO WEATHER, THE MINIMUM CONCRETE COVER FOR
REINFORCING SHRLL BE 1 1/2" REGARDLESS OF BAR SIZE.
25. A SOIL OR WASTE PIPE OR R BUILDING DRAIN PASSING
