AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3230, AND ITS
AMENDMENTS, AND ADOPTING AN AMENDED
CLASSIFICATION AND PAY PLAN EFFECTIVE
IMMEDIATELY TO AUTHORIZE THE ADDITION OF ONE
(1) TEMPORARY "CONTRACTS TECHNICIAN" POSITION
AND ONE (1) TEMPORARY PART-TIME "SECRETARY H"
POSITION TO THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
DEPARTMENT TO BE AUTHORIZED CONTINGENT UPON
AND CONCURRENT WITH CONTINUED GRANT
FUNDING VIA THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY,
CONFLICTS, AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida deems it necessary
to amend the Classification and Pay Plan to authorize the addition of one (1) Temporary
"Contracts Technician" position and one (1) Temporary Part-Time "Secretary II" position to
Community Development Department to be authorized contingent upon the concurrent with
continued grant funding via the Community Development Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY O]F
SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the preceding clauses are adopted as fully set forth herein.
SECTION 2: That the terms of Ordinance No. 3230 are hereby amended.
SECTION 3: That Ordinance No. 3230 be and the same is hereby amended to provide
that the amendments to the Classification and Pay Plan attached hereto as Exhibit "A" are
incorporated herein by reference and are made part of this Ordinance as fully and completely
as though they were fully set forth herein.
SECTION 4: SEVERABILITY. If any section or portion of a section of this Ordinance
proves to be invalid, unlawful, or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to impair the validity,
force or effect of any other section or part of a section of this Ordinance.
SECTION 5: CONFLICTS. That all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby revoked.
SECTION 6: EFFECTIVE DATE. That this Ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon its passage and adoption and interest shall accrue as provided in Section 28-
43(d)(1) above.

CONTRACTS TECHNICIAN
KIND OF WORK
This is clerical & technical work in varied grant funded and community development
programs.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assists in the operation of community development activities. Provides information in the
areas of Federal, State, and local rules, regulations and information to applicants
regarding Community Development Department programs. Provides support to all clerical
duties of the Community Development Department, including filing, record keeping, and
preparing periodical reports for review. Occasionally prepares correspondence and
attends meetings as directed. May perform other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
Considerable knowledge of computer use specifically Word Processing, spreadsheet, and
database software. Ability to maintain, with supervision, complex records and reports.
Ability to type accurately at a rapid rate. Ability to maintain effective working relationships
with other employees. Ability to deal with the public in an effective and courteous manner..
ESSENTIAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be HSG or GED equivalent and have a minimum of two (2) years experience in
secretarial or varied office work. AA or AS Degree in related field and one year social
work or Community Development experience preferred. Possession of a valid Florida
Drivers License.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work is performed independently under limited to general supervision and is reviewed in
progress and upon completion for achievement of desired results.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
None
DURATION
This position is totally supported by grant funds. Any interruption with any Community
Development Department/City of Sanford grant program(s) may cause position suspension
or elimination.
