AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
AMENDING SECTION 18-20 (a) (5) OF THE CITY CODE
OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, PERTAINING TO PARKING,
STORAGE AND USE OF MAJOR RECREATIONAL
EQUIPMENT, TO LIMIT THE APPLICATION OF
SUBSECTION (5), REGARDING PARKING AND STORING
OF AUTOMOTIVE VEHICLES OR TRAILERS, TO APPLY
TO ONLY MAJOR RECREATIONAL EQUIPMENT OR
TRAILERS; ~ AMENDING SECTION 11-30 OF THE
CITY CODE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, REGARDING
THE KEEPING OF JUNK CARS, PARTS OR DEBRIS, BY
THE ADDITION OF SUBSECTION (d) WHICH PROVIDES
AN EXCEPTION TO THE PROHIBITION ON JUNK CARS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS AND
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sanford desires to amend Section 11-30
and Section 18-20(a)(5) of the City Code of the City of Sanford.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF
SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: Section 18-20(a)(5) of the City Code of the City
of Sanford, Florida, be deleted in its entirety and replaced with
the following:
(a)(5) No major recreational equipment or trailers of any
kind or type without required current license
plates shall be parked or stored on any
residentially zoned property other than in an
enclosed building, carport or behind a barrier
which obscures visibility from any public or
approved private street, or adjacent property
provided the location is not in any required yard
area. This section shall not apply to automobiles,
cars or trucks.
SECTION 2: Section 11-30 of the City Code of the City of
Sanford, Florida, is hereby amended to add the following
subsection:
(d) The keeping of junk cars, parts and debris within the
city limits of Sanford, Florida is prohibited.
EXCEPTION: This section shall not pertain to one motor
vehicle in operable condition specifically adapted or
designed for operation on drag strips or raceways, or one
vehicle retained by the owner for antique collection
purposes; in addition a person may retain one (1) junk
car as defined herein on their property as long as said
vehicle is covered by a manufactured automobile cover.
SECTION 3: If any section or portion of a section of this
ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitutional, it
shall not be held to impair the validity, force or effect of any
other section or part of this ordinance.
SECTION 4: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith be and the same are hereby revoked.
SECTION 5: That this ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon its passage and adoption.
