Silicon gasket lubricant and tri-seal freezer gaskets are recommended for freezer applications. Please refer to "Gasket Recommendations" sheet for additional information. Install the gasket by placing the gasket over the pipe and ensure that the gasket lip does not overhang the pipe end. Bring both pipe ends together, ensure proper alignment and slide the gasket into position, properly centering it between the grooved portions of each pipe. 4. The Figure 772 Coupling has a tongue and recess arrangement. Place the coupling housings over the gasket so that the housing keys fully engage into grooves making sure that the tongue is mated to the recess. Insert the bolts into the coupling and assemble the nuts onto the bolts. Note: Selected sizes of the Figure 772 Coupling incorporate a "Universal Tongue and Recess" feature which will be incorporated on additional sizes in the future. These coupling housings have identical tongue/ recess pairs at each end, which allow an. engagement fit no matter which end of the housing is brought together. For additional information, please contact Central. 5. Tighten nuts uniformly until proper torque is obtained (see chart), keeping the gaps at the bolt pads evenly spaced . Gasket should not be visible after tightening. The Figure 772 couplings do not have to meet Bolt Pad to Bolt Pad to insure proper installation. Caution -uneven tightening can cause gasket pinching. A special metal insert is available to prevent the smaller pipe from slipping into the larger pipe in vertical installations. The Model 706 provides a proven dependable method for joining different piping ends together that is faster and easier than threading, welding or using flanges. It is intended for use with steel pipe and can be used with many of the specially listed thin wall pipes. Combine Model 706 flexible grooved couplings with Model 110/210 grooved 90s or Model 120/219 grooved tees to provide a transition at a fitting. Model: 706 Style: Grooved Reducing Coupling Approvals: U.L., U.L.C., F.M., M.E.A. (See Fire Protection Submittal Sheet for exact Listing/Approval information.) Max. Working Pressure: 350 psi (see chart on page 2.) Standard Finishes: Galvanized or non -lead orange paint Gasket: 1) Grade A EPDMA, violet color code (ambient to +150°F) fire protection systems. Approved. (See Fire Protection Submittal Sheet for exact Listing/Approval information.) Installation 1. Check to ensure that the gasket is suitable for intended service. 2. Cover inside edges and outer surface of the gasket with a thin layer of petroleum -free silicon lubricant or equivalent. Not recom- mended for Freezer or Dry Pipe Systems 3. If you are using a metal insert, place the insert inside the gasket, aligning the insert slots with the ribs on the gasket. 4. Install the gasket by placing the gasket over the pipe and ensure that the gasket lip does not over- hang the pipe end. 5. Bring both pipe ends together, ensure proper alignment and slide (the gasket into position, properly centering it between the grooved portions of each pipe. 6. Place the coupling housings over the gasket so that the housing keys fully engage into grooves. Insert the bolts into the couplings and rotate the nuts until finger -tight. 7. Tighten nuts alternately and evenly until proper bolt torque is obtained (see chart). Caution -uneven tightening can cause the gaskets to pinch. Note: Piping systems must always be depressurized and drained before attempting to disas- semble or remove any piping component. Check the pipe seal surface within 5/8" of the hole to be certain it is free from conditions which would affect proper gasket sealing. Remove any sharp or rough edges from the hole or upper housing contact area, which might affect assembly, proper seating of the locking collar or flow from the outlet. Check gasket grade to be certain it is suitable for the service. For crosses, ensure double outlet holes are aligned on opposite sides of the pipe. The use of threaded products other than steel pipe, such as dry pendents, etc. may not be compatible with the female threaded outlet on the Mechanical Tee. Always confirm compatibility by contacting Central. Note: Outlet threads conforming to BSP are available, contact Central for details. CENTRAL GROVE® PIPING PR®®ETS ©1998 Central Grooved Piping Products 730.09.98 Printed in U.S.A. r ;. r Fittings LJProduct Description Central Ductile Iron threaded fittings conform to ANSI B16.3 and are higher in strength and more corrosion resistant than cast iron fittings. The additional strength is provided by the ductile properties making up the fitting. This is accomplished by adding magnesium while the iron is being poured into its final cast shape. This provides an advantage as the fittings are not as susceptible to leaks or cracking and they are also lighter than standard cast iron. Caution: Installers who have not used ductile iron threaded fittings before should be instructed that the fitting is stronger than the pipe and over -tightening the fitting can create leaks and cause damage to pipe threads. In general, there is about one-half a turn difference between cast iron and ductile iron fittings. Apply Teflon tape or high quality pipe joint compound on the pipe threads and tighten two to three turns beyond hand tight. If you are using an automatic make - on machine, please exercise caution in setting your machine to the proper parameters prior to tightening fittings onto the male pipe threads. Unlike most other recessed sprinklers, the upper escutcheon support piece is factory installed on the base of the sprinkler frame, assuring a Listed installation. The ceiling escutcheon plate is easily installed after the sprinkler is in place either by the standard "push -on" escutcheon or the special "thread - on" escutcheon. This feature allows removal of ceiling panels for easy access to ceiling equipment without taking the system out of service to remove the sprinkler. The Model H Recessed Pendent Sprinkler is available with a'/2" (12.7 mm) orifice. The Model H Sprinklers are available in two standard finishes. The mating escutcheon plate is available in three standard finishes with additional special finishes available upon request. Operation: A fusible alloy is sealed into a bronze center strut with a stainless steel ball. When the alloy melts at its rated temperature, the ball is forced upward into the center strut, releasing the two ejectors and operating the sprinkler. Unlike most other sprinkler designs, the alloy is not exposed to atmospheric condi- tions that could affect its proper operation. It is also less susceptible to mechanical damage because Model: H Style: Recessed Pendent (adjustable) Wrench: Universal (#1122) Orifice Size: %2" (12.7 mm) K-Factor: 5.6 (80.08 metric) Thread Size: %2" (15 mm) N.P.T.
