Change Order 1
Date: 11 November 8, 2005
Location: U Sanford South Water Resource Center
Type: 11 Additive
Description of Change:
This change order addresses items required to ensure a complete, safe and fully operationalvv@SteVv8[er
treatment facility to meet the dBDO8OdS of the City of SaDfOnd'S new SSVVRC. The first OlOdUhC8U0R
associated with this change orderwill reinstate the originally designed and bid 3.0 million gallon Reclaimed
Water ground storage tank in lieu of the 1.0 million gallon Reclaimed Water ground storage tank proposed
and originally accepted as cost saving measure during initial value engineering reviews performed to
bring the project to within budgeted funds. Subsequent value engineering indicated that the cost for un
increase in the tank storage capacity was o viable alternative and would allow for storage of the initial
SSF|C`Sstartup production. The cost for a 2.OK8Gtank was considered but the tank contractor was willing
to hold the O[igiO8| bid price for the 3.0 MG C8Ok and final evaluation found this to be the most CD8t
effective alternative for additional reclaimed water storage.
The second modification associated with this change order iSfor the purpose Ofincreasing the base slab
thickness DDthe two /2\secondary clarifiers UJensure the structures are sufficiently weighted tDprevent
flotation during the event Ofmaximum high ground water table. The 20O1 prSQOOS1[UCUOOsoils reports
indicated an expected high water table at three feet below grade (The base of the secondary clarifiers are
approximately seven feet below g[ade). OU[iOg recent tropical events the groundwater level has been
observed ato[near the ground surface elevation. Evaluation of the floatation calculations with the ground
water atthese levels indicated the need tOincrease the weight Ofthe secondary clarifiers tOprevent the
possibility of floatation of the structures should they ever be emptied during a time period of extreme high
gnOUOd water table.
Reason for Change:
This change order is for adjustments UDthe contract cost k}complete miscellaneous improvements and
upgrades t0the project tOp[oVde arOo[e complete, durable and functional process. Funding iSavailable
