Old Business
0 Items accepted by the Collections working group:
o Balsley mantel —represents Paola and how furniture was moved.
o Stein Machine and Supply company — Clamp truck that was made for celery and
orange crates and includes a patent.
o The writing desk of Elivira Garner, children's book author.
• Docent position (grant paid): a candidate has been selected and forwarded to HR for
processing and approval.
• PSI High and Seminole County Public Schools exhibit with the Museum. Working with
Florida Public Archaeology Network using photogrammetry to create 3D models of
artifacts.
• Museum's 65th Anniversary — scheduled to be held on May 21, 2022 to coincide with
National Museum day which is, May 18th. Discuss how to rent Ft. Mellon Park during the
next Marketing meeting. The Historical Society, fund raising organization, has suggested
an anniversary registry for items that the Museum may like. Christina Hollerbach
suggested the Collection group to determine what items would be needed. The Market
group would then assist in marketing that program.
New Business
• The updates to the Museum YouTube video, by Ryan Handley, has proved to be
successful.
• The Historical Society has decided to not host the annual Holiday party due to COVID. In
place of the party the Museum is considering a holiday video that would highlight
various cultures and their holiday traditions. Filming would have to take place in early
November.
• Museum staff will join the Fang-tastic Fest event by reading ghost stories.
• Brigitte Stephenson is scheduled to give a "Mourning" lecture at the Seminole County
Library. Ryan Handley suggested purchasing a microphone that will connect to a
telephone to record the ghost stories as well as the mourning lecture to easily post on
social media.
• Riches project — Christina Hollerbach would like to submit the recorded stories to the
Riches project. Museum is assisting Julie Scofield, Historic Preservation Planner on a
project to make Georgetown a Historic District. Museum staff will collect oral histories
and work with Riches on the project as part of a "History Harvest" event that is
tentatively scheduled foe February 2022.
• Discussion on "Metrics for the Museum" (surveys/sign-in information). Determine the
best way to gather this information from the public regarding things that interest them
as well as items/exhibits that would be enjoyable. Current suggestion is a QR code and
survey monkey. Christina Hollerbach suggested the same survey software that the City
Public Arts Commission has recently used.
