Owner furnished products: The following products and materials will be furnished/delivered by Sam's and installed by the contractors. 1. Underground storage tanks, straps and deadmen for a complete installation. 2. Metal canopy, anchor bolts and foundation design 3. Canopy light fixtures 4. Multi product dispensers 5. Misc. electronic equipment and signage as described by the construction documents. 6. Prefabricated fiberglass building, including hvac unit. 01011 Contractor shall be aware of the fact that construction will take place within the confines of an operating Sam's Club parking lot that will be in operation during the construction and Contractor shall endeavor to limit interference with its operation to a minimum. 01013 Prior to start of construction, Contractor shall meet with representatives of Wal—Mart Realty Construction, to have an area designated for storage of equipment and parking of the required equipment. This area as well as the actual job site shall be enclosed in chainlink fencing as described on the construction drawings. A traffic lane shall be designated for ingress and egress from the work area. If required, flag men shall be provided to provide a safe and efficient movement of vehicles. No changes to the work area or to our traffic pattern agreed upon shall be made without prior approval of the Sam's Club Manager. The Construction Manager will secure the approval for such changes. 01020 It shall be understood by the Contractor that he is responsible for the completion of all phases of the construction and that he is to turn over to the Sam's Gasoline Division the facility in operating condition. 01025 Securing the Permit: It is NOT the responsibility of the Architect to secure any permit, nor to determine all fees, processes, licenses, location of permit office, its business hours and personnel. The following are examples of permits and submittals that are typically NOT the responsibility of the Architect: Contractor Design —Build items Fire Protection Sam's External Vendor Items Structural Steel Joists & Girders Steel Deck Sam's Internal Vendors Fixtures Exterior Building Signage Alarm Systems Telecommunications Data Systems Responsibility for Change Orders: The Architect issuing a Construction Change Directive must determine if the Jurisdiction requires permit review of the change and, if required, must submit and track the approval. Contractor is responsible for obtaining and paying for all necessary permits except those that have been specifically excluded in the Contract. The Contractor shall also perform all the required start—up procedures. After all equipment has been installed, the Contractor shall undertake a Precision Test on the tanks and fuel lines by an independent third party testing company. Sam's Club, Inc. retains the right to specify the third party testing company. Results of this test shall be provided in writing to the Construction Manager prior to Sam's possession. 01030 Standards — The latest issue of the following standards and codes shall apply: NFPA — 30 "Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code" NFPA — 30A "Automotive and Marine Service Station Code" NFPA — 70 "National Electrical Code" NFPA — 77 "Static Electricity" API — 1615 "Installation of Underground Petroleum Storage Systems" API — 1632 "Cathodic Protection of Underground Petroleum Storage Systems" UFC "Uniform Fire Code" EPA40 — CFR Part 280 "Underground Tank Technical Requirements" 01400 Quality Control Services — All testing shall be supplied by Contractor except where noted, and be performed by qualified personnel. Third party testing shall be performed by licensed entities and the results provided to the Construction Manager. 01500 Submittal/Shop Drawings — (Only required for alternates to materials not specified in these drawings) Contractor shall submit 4 copies of submittal or shop drawings to the Construction Manager. Submittal shall clearly indicate manufacturer, model number, any options, and technical specifications. Submittal shall be required for all equipment and materials to be used for construction. Submittal shall be returned to Contractor within 2 weeks of submittal date. 01501 Contractor shall maintain at the job site a complete set of drawings and specifications and make them available to the Construction Manager as long as construction is in progress. 01600 All fuel tanks, piping, pumps, etc. shall possess all certifications required to install U.S.T.'s in the jurisdiction in which the tanks are being installed. 01705 Project Closeout — Upon completion of the work, there shall be a final inspection of the project by the Wal—Mart Realty Construction Manager. All equipment shall be tested under normal operation. Sam's Gasoline Division shall provide fuels for the test. Contractor shall have an ASO and an electrician during the opening to handle any required adjustments to the equipment. Start—up of Tank Monitoring Systems shall be by manufacturer's technicians. 01800 Site Clean —Up — Contractor shall maintain the work area clean. Trash and waste material shall be collected at a safe point away from flames or other fire sources. Contractor shall prevent any leaks or drips of hydraulic fluid, motor oil, motor fuels, solvents, and other hydrocarbons from contaminating the ground. Such spills shall be immediately soaked in Oil dry and removed from the site in an approved manner. Trash shall be disposed of daily unless a covered dumpster is provided and its location approved by Sam's Construction Manager or Sam's Club Manager. 01802 After all work has been completed and the project tested and accepted, the Contractor shall sweep clean the entire work area and remove all trash, waste material and his equipment and vehicles. Any damaged parking stripes or stained pavement shall be refinished to its original condition. END OF DIVISION 1 DIVISION 2 — SITE WORK 02110 Contractor shall provide all clearing and demolition as required by the construction. Care shall be taken not to damage any existing structures that are to remain. All waste material shall be disposed of in a manner consistent with existing laws and regulations. All excess dirt, concrete and materials shall be removed form the site at Contractors expense. 02111 Contractor shall exercise due care to protect all existing utilities as well as all roads, building and appurtenances. 02112 U.S.T. excavation shall comply with all applicable local state and federal codes and regulations. Bottom of hole shall be level and walls shall slope as required by local soil conditions. Suitable barricades shall be provided for the protection of the work and to assure safety. Excavations shall be maintained free of water until back fill has been completed. 02200 Tank back fill shall be washed pea gravel as specified by tank manufacturer. A sieve analysis report shall be provided by the Contractor to the Sam's Construction Manager if alternate back fill material is requested PRIOR to placing back fill. The material shall be placed in six inch lifts, properly tamped as directed by the manufacturer's tank setting instructions printed on the side of the tank. 02210 Bedding and back fill around fuel line and conduit shall be clean gravel per manufacturer's recommendations. The pipes shall have a minimum of six inches of this type of back fill on all directions. Sand or gravel back fill shall continue in 6" lifts to the bottom of concrete slab. Compaction shall be not less than 95% of Modified Proctor Density (AASHTO—T-180). 02227 Driving of motor vehicles over backfilled pipe trenches shall not be permitted until such time as pavement has been installed and properly cured. 02228 All cuts in existing pavement shall be made with a concrete saw to full depth of the pavement and shall be straight. END OF DIVISION 2 DIVISION 3 — CONCRETE 03310 Mix Design — Concrete shall be Class B with a 3500 psi minimum field compressive strength at 28 days. 03320 Forming — forms shall be of sufficient strength to resist the applied concrete load without deflecting or springing. Height of all forms shall be equal to the full depth of the item to be constructed. The forms shall be thoroughly cleaned, well oiled, securely staked, braced and held to the required line and grade. Reinforcing shall be positioned to the desired depth and shall rest on suitable chairs or other approved devices. For unexposed finish concrete: Use plywood, lumber, metal, or other acceptable material. If lumber is used, it must be dressed on at least 2 edges and 2 sides for a tight fit. Form coatings: Commercial formulation form coating compound with maximum VOC of 350 mg/I that will not bond with, stain, nor adversely affect concrete surfaces, will not impair subsequent treatments of concrete surfaces. Follow ACI Building Code requirements. 03330 Reinforcing — Steel bars shall be deformed bar conforming to ASTM A 615 grade 60. Bar Supports and spacing shall be as recommended in the CRSI Manual of Standard Practice. Spacing and size of bars shall be as detailed in the Drawings. All rust, oil and other foreign matter shall be removed from the bars prior to placement. Steel wire mesh reinforcing shall conform to ASTM A185. Size shall be 6x6—W1.4xW1.4 weighing 42 lbs. per 100 sq. ft. 03340 Grades — Contractor shall verify all grades and positioning of forms prior to any pour. Any discrepancies shall be brought to the attention of the Sam's Construction Manager. New Paving must meet existing paving at a uniform slope to insure proper drainage. 03341 Concrete Placement — All concrete shall be placed during daylight. Concrete shall not be placed on poorly compacted subgrade or on frozen ground. It shall be placed as soon as practicable but in no event later than one hour after water has been added to the mix. The method and manner of placement shall be such as to avoid segregate and displacement of the imbedded steel. Concrete shall have a temperature between 50 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit when being placed. Compact the concrete by rodding, spading or vibrating to remove all voids. 03345 Joints — Construct expansion joints control joints and construction joints true to line, with face perpendicular to the concrete surface. Construct transverse joints at right angles to centerline. Weakened plane joints shall be cuts made with a powered saw. These joints are acceptable as contraction joints. Expansion joints shall be provided with a premolded joint filler. Top of filler shall be set 1h inch below top of surface of slab. Fill void with gasoline resistant sealer. 03350 Surface finish — All exposed concrete surfaces shall be true, smooth, free from open or rough spaces, depressions, or projections. All horizontal plane surfaces shall be brought flush with the finish elevations and shall be struck —off with a straight edge and floated. Steel trowel finish all exposed surfaces after floating. All edges shall be tooled straight and smooth. Apply light broom finish on slab at right angle to the direction of traffic. 03360 All concrete surfaces shall be cured with R.W. Meadows CS-309 acrylic Liquid Membrane Curing and Sealing Compound conforming to AASHTO M.148, Type 2 — Class B. Apply at rate not less than one gallon per 200 sq. Ft. of surface. Application shall take place after finishing operations are completed. Provide two final coats prior to turn —over to Sam's. 03370 Three test cylinders shall be taken for each 1,000 square feet (or portion thereof) of slab placed. Three test cylinders will be taken from each truckload used in placing the canopy foundations. It is the contractor's responsibility to schedule and pay for an independent testing to perform these tests. Test results for all cylinders shall be submitted in the close out book. The test results will be identified as to which portion of the slab or which canopy foundation that concrete was utilized in. END OF DIVISION 3 DMSION 9 — PAINTING 09900 General — Contractor shall furnish all labor, paint, materials and equipment required to paint all surfaces called for in the construction drawings. Canopy columns shall be painted behind spandrels and signs. Contractor shall furnish paints matching Sherwin Williams Paints. Colors specified on Construction Drawings. 09901 Paint Application — Contractor shall use cleaners, solvents, wire brushes and rags to clean the surfaces to be painted and shall mask those not to be painted. Spray or brush or a combination of both is acceptable. Use due care not to overspray onto adjacent structures or vehicles. Point may be mixed by hand or by mechanical means. However, thinner is not to be added to the paint unless specifically called for by the manufacturer for proper consistency. If weather is cold, paint can be stored in a warm place until ready for application. Do not apply paint if temperature falls below 50 F or when a freeze is expected. Apply the primer coat the some day the surface is cleaned. Each coat of paint shall be applied uniformly and free of pores and holiday. Allow enough time between coats for proper drying of the previous coat. Total dry thickness of paint shall be 5 mills. END OF DIVISION 9 DIVISION 10 — SPECIALTIES 10010 Metal canopy — Canopy Manufacturer will supply and install a prefabricated steel canopy, of dimensions as shown in the drawings, external roof drains, columns and light fixtures. Provide electrical conduit inside column for light fixture circuits and security cameras as shown on electrical drawings. Provide vent piping inside canopy column as shown on tank drawings. Contractor shall be responsible for wiring of the light fixtures. Canopy shall be designed to resist local wind loads, earthquake loads and snow loads. Use a soil bearing strength provided by soils report supplied under separate cover. Minimum wind load shall be 90 mph, and minimum snow load shall be 30 psi. Canopy panels shall be factory painted per drawings. Columns shall be primed pointed with zinc chromate metal primer. All roof drains shall be primed inside and outside. Canopy manufacturer shall provide to architect and construction manager shop drawings and certified engineering calculations of canopy and footing design for submittal ` to city Building Inspection office. 10010 Prior to turning over the gas station to the owner, Wal—Mart Realty Construction Manager and the General Contractor shall confirm that all canopy lights are working properly. If any lights are not working, it will be the General Contractor's responsibility to return the lights to working order. If the problem is determined to be a burned out light bulb, bad ballast or some other deficiency in the light fixture itself, the General Contractor will expedite the repairs and forward the invoice to the Wal—Mart Realty Construction Manger for direct reinbursement. END OF DIVISION 10 DIVISION 11 — EQUIPMENT 11010 Electronic fuel management system. The system shall be manufactured using current microprocessor technology. It shall be designed to offer a wide variety of operational modes and to provide maximum versatility without special programming or engineering changes. Ease and economy of expansion shall also be prerequisite of the proposed system. It shall be capable of operating as a stand—olone fuel management system. It shall also have the capacity of interfacing with a variety of data processing equipment. The data processing on —site or remotely. In the remote mode, all commands and functions normally performed on —site through the local data terminal shall be executable remotely. The system shall be listed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), and shall comply with all other necessary, applicable local and national standards. The system shall comply with all applicable Federal Communication Commission (FCC) requirements. The system shall provide self —test and diagnostic utilities for start—up and troubleshooting. 11011 The system shall have a minimum of one (1) year parts and labor warranty. 11012 Overview. The purpose of the system shall be to control dispensing equipment and provide accurate accounting of all fuel and related products being dispensed. It shall record data for each transaction in non—volatile memory and on the computer. It shall have the capability of user access by: magnetic stripe card. An internal electronic file shall hold data for each card. All system commands shall be menu —driven with on —screen "help" support for explanation of all functions. 11020 Tank inventory and leak detection system. The system shall be manufactured using the most current microprocessor —based technology. It shall have combined inventory control, in —tank leak detection, pipe leak detection, interstitial leak sensing, non —discriminating liquid, and ground water monitoring capabilities. It shall be of modular design featuring a PC compatible controller and intelligent probe/sensor boards allowing for integrated monitoring devices and economy of expansion. The system shall be listed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) as intrinsically safe for use in Class 1, Division 2, Group d hazardous locations as defined by the National Electric Code. 11021 System overview — The purpose of the system shall be to continuously monitor an underground site to aid in the prevention of environmental contamination. It shall continuously monitor the product and water levels along with the product temperature through the use of a ultrasonic probe. The system must be able to indicate possible leaks in addition to measuring the tanks product and water levels. The system shall also continuously monitor for leaks or spills of tanks or equipment through a variety of strategically —placed sensors including continuous liquid and vapor phase sensors and reservoir sump level sensors and pipe leak sensors. It shall gather data from each of the devices and format that data into reports on product dispensed or withdrawn, delivery, leakage and temperature corrected volume. The recorded data shall be held in non—volatile memory. All system commands, both on —site or remote, shall be menu —driven with on —screen help support of all functions. 11024 Reports. The system shall have the ability to generate reports on site events and system information. Reports shall be capable of being generated on —demand (immediate) or scheduled at times and intervals defined by the user. User shall also be capable of selecting device and data ranges as well as format and output options. It shall allow the user to generate immediate reports for both present (real—time) and past (saved) events. STRUCTURE 1.0 General Design Criteria 1.1 Scope: The scope of this specification is to set forth the standards of material quality, mechanical properties, design loads, and construction specifications for MEKCO architectural composite F.R.P. structure. 1.2 Product Specification: These specifications shall not be modified without the written consent of MEKCO MANUFACTURING, INC. All designs, dimensions, and tolerances for the building components shall conform to MEKCO MANUFACTURING, INC. industrial building standards. 1.3 Structure Design: All MEKCO freestanding F.R.P. structure are designed to be completely weatherproof, air and water tight, corrosion and chemical resistant, light -weight and environmentally aesthetic. Complete design certification, signed and sealed by a registered professional engineer, can be acquired at your request. 2.0 Material 2.1 Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic Materials: 2.1.1 Resin: All resins used are orthophthalic polyesters. Fillers and additives may be used to achieve chemical resistance and fire retardant properties according to other customer specifications. 2.1.2 Glass Reinforcing: All glass fiber reinforcement shall be Type E glass and shall be treated with a finish compatible to the resin being used. This foundation shall be designed by a qualified engineer. Shop drawings shall be submitted to MEKCO MANUFACTURING, INC. for this work in accordance with the requirements of the general conditions. 5.2 The foundation shall be constructed with following tolerances: 5.2.1 Plumbness: The base or pad shall be constructed plumb and true, with the anchor bolts being set plumb to the foundation in a workmanlike manner. 5.2.2 Level: The foundation shall be constructed in such a manner that a level surface within +/- 1/4" will be observed around the entire foundation surface on which the building shall rest. 5.2.3 Construction dimensional tolerances to be observed during erection are as follows: The dimensions as specified on the drawings shall be held to within +/- 1.5% for the finished structure. 6.0 Erection 6.1 An approved General Contractor shall be responsible for erection. Only competent workmen who are properly trained to handle and erect pre- fabricated fiberglass building components shall be used. All prefabricated units shall be erected level and plumb, and to be true within the specified construction tolerances. Segment panels shall be positioned and joined so that cumulative dimensional error is not allowed. 6.2 Prior to installation, the erector shall check (at job site) all dimensions affecting the work under his contract. Any discrepancies between the field dimensions and design dimension shall be brought to the attention of MEKCO MANUFACTURING, INC. If such conditions exist, installation shall not proceed until the discrepancies are remedied. 6.3 The contractor shall furnish equipment to install the composite F.R.P. structure in place. All bolted connections for the panels shall be made by means of bolting material specified in Section 2.3 and as noted on the drawings. Base anchor bolts shall be of a material as noted in Section 2.3.1 and as shown on the drawings. Washers of suitable size shall b- utilized on all anchoring flanges to avoid localized stresses in bolting, or load conditions. 6.4 All building components shall be positioned in place with adequate handling to prevent warping or fracturing. It is the responsibility of the purchaser or his agent to inspect the individual products shipped for any freight damage before unloading. MEKCO MANUFACTURING, INC. must be informed immediately of any damage noted. The contractor shall be responsible for any chipping, cracking, or other damages to the structure during erection. 7.0 Operation 7.1 After construction, the owner (or his qualified representative) shall inspect the structure. Any discrepancies in construction, loose connections, errors, or omissions shall be brought to the attention of MEKCO MANUFACTURING, INC. immediately. 7.2 The composite F.R.P.. structure shall not be modified in any manner without first consulting MEKCO MANUFACTURING, INC. This would include, but not be limited to, the hanging of additional loads from the roof, creating an over pressure or negative pressure within the enclosed space, cutting holes through the building in any way, shape or form, or changing the use of the composite F.R.P. structure to a function other than which it was designed. 8.0 Warranty MEKCO MANUFACTURING, INC. warrants its products, to be free from defects in manufacturing, workmanship or materials and will repair or replace at its sole discretion within the continental USA, but only within a period of one year after date of shipment, any product, proven to be other than as warranted. Contractor shall furnish all pipe, fittings and materials required to connect all the tanks and mechanical equipment as shown in the drawings. All pipe and fittings shall be new and clean. All pipe stored at the site shall be properly stacked. All pipe joints shall be capped until ready for installation. 15050 Pipe Burial. The final bedding of the pipe trench should be uniform. High spots in the trench bottom will cause uneven stresses during back fill and may cause failure of the pipe. Sharp bends and changes of elevation shall be avoided. Granular back fill, free of rocks and other sharp objects shall be utilized and shall cover pipe to the depth of six (6) inches in all directions. Pipe runs shall be spaced a minimum of six (6) inches apart. Minimum burial depth shall be verified at 10 foot intervals. 15090 Flexible Piping Manufacturer — OPW Pisces 15091 Design. The double wall piping system shall consist of a flexible inner primary pipe contained within a flexible outer containment pipe, each making connection with a series of surface access containment chambers. All piping runs shall be continuous, whereby there shall be no fittings or piping connections, for either the primary or secondary containment pipe which are not visible or accessible from the aboveground surface. The secondary containment system shall provide watertight containment of the tank's piping and its associated fittings, and the shear valve assembly located below each ground fuel dispenser unit. 15092 Product compatibility. All components of the double wall piping system shall be made of non —corrosive materials, or if metallic, such as the fittings and couplings, isolated from corrosion causing elements. 15093 Corrosion resistance — All components of the double wall piping system shall be made of non —corrosive materials, or if metallic, such as the fittings and couplings, isolated from corrosion causing elements. 15094 Structural integrity. The outer secondary containment system shall be of such a design and made of materials to have sufficient strength to withstand the maximum underground burial loads and tested in accordance with AASHTO M294. The flexible inner primary piping system shall be capable or withstanding liquid pressure five times greater than the designed operating pressures. 15095 Integrity testing. The outer secondary containment systems shall undergo 5 psi air pressure hold test after installation and before final back fill. The flexible inner primary piping system shall be subject to 60 psi air pressure hold test. prior to final back fill. Test shall be per manufacturer's installation instructions. All test results shall be documented in writing to the Sam's Construction Manager. 15096 Monitoring capability. The design of the secondary containment system shall permit a leak in the primary piping system to flow from its source to a surface access containment chamber which shall be fitted with an electronic leak detection system. 15097 Access chambers. Surface access containment chambers shall be located at the tank containing the tank's submersible pump and under each above ground fuel dispenser. These access chambers shall meet the following requirements: Provide product tight tank or island connection. Provide product tight and secure pipe and conduit exits. Provide sufficient strength to keep out surrounding back fill material. Made of non —corrosive, product compatible and di —electric materials. 15098 Grounding. Provide grounding continuity between dispensers and submersible pumps. Bond all metal fittings to ground wire utilizing the grounding boss provided on each fitting. Test electrical continuity after installation. 15099 Contractor shall prepare the Installation Check List and Site Layout Form provided by the manufacturer duly certified by the pipe installer. OPW warranty and above forms shall be surrendered to Sam's Construction Manager upon completion of the project. 15100 Steel pipe and fittings. All steel pipe shall be seamless standard pipe conforming to ASTM A53 Type B. Use Schedule 40 pipe. All underground pipe and fittings shall be wrapped as described below in 15130. Pipe fittings shall be 150# screwed malleable iron or seamless welded fittings of same Schedule as the pipe being joined to. 15110 Screwed connections. All screwed connections shall be made up with virgin Teflon pipe compound and shall be kept to a minimum. All threads shall be machine adequate depth for the pipe size. 15120 Pipe handling. Prior to installation all pipe shall be cleaned internally. 2 inch diameter and smaller pipe shall be blown clean with compressed air. All fittings shall be thoroughly inspected for defects prior to assembly. 15130 Pipewrap. Ail underground steel pipe and fittings shall be wrapped up to a point 6 inches above grade in the following manner: Apply SCOTCHWRAP Pipe Insulation Putty at all high irregular surfaces such as fittings so as to provide a uniform surface for the prime coat tape wrap. Apply SCOTCHWRAP Pipe Primer at an average rate of 350 sq. ft. per gallon. Apply SCOTCHWRAP #51 tape (20 mils) with width and overlap as follows: Pipe Dia. (in) Tape Width (in) Overlap 1 1/2 2 3/8 2 2 3/8 4 4 1/2 The above shall be applied in strict conformance with manufacturer's instructions. END OF DIVISION 15 DMSION 16 — ELECTRICAL 16010 General. All electrical work and materials shall conform to all the requirements of NFPA 70 "National Electrical Code", NFPA 30 "Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code", latest edition, NFPA 30A "Automobile and Marine Gasoline Service Station Code", NFPA 58 "Liquid Petroleum Gases", as well as all applicable local codes and the regulations of the power company supplying the electricity for the facility. Installation of the MSI, Allied and Computer equipment and hardware shall be only by technicians certified by the manufacturers as approved installers. When completed, all electrical work and equipment shall be thoroughly tested, identified and ready for operation. The drawings show electrical runs diagrammatically (unless dimensioned) and Contractor may arrange his runs based on economy and ease of installation. All runs between the tank and the building shall be in a common trench. All exposed conduit shall be properly supported and run only in true vertical and horizontal directions. Underground conduit shall be coated and run at a depth of not less than 24 inches. The Contractor shall visit the site and ascertain the characteristics and location of the service available at or near the site and shall provide a temporary 50A 120/ 208—single phase A.C. service at a point readily accessible to all work areas. New service shall be as designed on electrical plans brought underground to service building. The Contractor shall provide all required switches, panels, and circuit breakers. Lightning and surge protection shall be provided for all the electronic equipment. Provide isolated grounded receptacles (orange) as required by the equipment manufacturers. 16020 Electrical Conduit and Fittings — All underground conduit shall be heavy rigid galvanized steel. Conduit shall meet the following min. requirements: All 3/4" dia. conduit shall have wall thickness between .075" (1.9 mm) to 107" (2.7 mm). All 1" dia. conduit shall have wall thickness between .085" (2.2mm) to .126" (3.2mm). The following types of conduit will not be accepted for use underground: IMC, PVC, EMT, EMC or flexible. All underground conduit shall be hot —dip zinc' galvanized and chromated. All conduit (above and below grade) that is required by local codes to have additional corrosive protection shall be submitted by the General Contractor to the Architect\Engineer for approval prior to bid or start of construction. All conduit shall be manufactured by Alcoa, G.E., Allied or approved equal. All threads shall be coated with and electrically conductive compound (Zinc Chromate). All above grade conduit shall be rigid galvanized steel, IMC or EMT will be accepted above grade only. All above ground conduit shall be supported at 5ft. centers with malleable iron clamps (Unistrut or approved equal). All fittings in hazardous areas shall be rated for Class I, Group D. Seal —off fittings shall be provided at each end of every underground conduit run and as per Section 501—J of the National Fire Code. No fittings will be allowed for the first 10'-0" section of conduit before seal —off. 16030 Electrical Wiring. All power feeders shall be THWN labeled "Gasoline and Oil Resistant" thermoplastic nylon jacketed copper cable. All control cable shall be THWN or TFFN stranded copper cable. All conductors shall be properly identified and color coded. All termination's shall be identified by number or letter as shown in the shop drawings. Minimum wire size for power runs shall be AWG #14 and for low voltage control runs #18. Provide "As Built" wiring diagrams showing conductor identification numbers. All power control boxes, switch gear, control panels and circuit breakers shall be identified with aluminum or plastic labels. Final connection to electrical motor shall be made with explosion proof fittings. 16050 Electrical test. Testing of the electrical equipment and wiring shall demonstrate the following: That continuity of circuits is established and no short circuits are present. That no unspecified grounds exist. That the resistance to ground of all non —grounded circuits is within code limits That all wiring is properly color coded and identified per applicable wiring diagrams. That motor is turning in the proper direction. That all circuit breakers are properly sized. That the resistance to earth of the ground system is adequate. 16051 All wiring shall be Meggered prior to attachment to the equipment and fixtures. The Megger shall have at least a 500 volt open circuit. The resistance between conductors and between conductor and ground shall not be less than 10 Megohms as read in the Megger. Windings in motor shall be checked phase to ground and phase to phase. The ground system test must indicate a resistance not higher than 5 Ohms. The test shall follow the three point method utilizing a meter and voltmeter with an A.C. power supply or the commercial instrument method utilizing a Megger ground tester or approved equal.
