Series/Model 3240/4240, PVC single hung window at MI Home Products, Inc.'s test facility in
Elizabethville, Pennsylvania. The sample tested successfully met the performance requirements
for an H-R40 48 x 78 rating.
Test Specification: The test specimen was evaluated in accordance with A
101/I.S.2-97, Voluntary. Specifications for Aluminum, Vinyl (PVC) and Wood Windows and Glass

Frame Construction: All frame members were constructed of extruded vinyl with mitered
and welded comers. End caps were utilized on the ends of the meeting rail and secured with
two 1-1/4" screws per cap. Meeting rail was then secured to the frame utilizing two 1-1/4" screws.
Sash Construction: All sash members were constructed of extruded vinyl with mitered and
welded comers.
Screen Construction: The screen frame was constructed' from roll-foruied aluminum
members with keyed corners. The fiberglass mesh was secured with a flexible spline.

Reinforcement: A customized steel reinforcement was utilized in the interior and exterior
meeting rails. An "H" shaped steel reinforcement was utilized in all active sash stiles.
Installation: The test specimen was installed into the #2 Spruce -Pine -Fir wood buck with
1" galvanized roofing nails through the nail fin every 9" on center. Polyurethane was used as
a sealant under the nail fin and around the exterior perimeter..

Handle units one at a time in the closed and loc ed position and take care not to scratch frame or glassortobendthenailingfin.
Set unit plumb and square into opening and make sure that there is 3/16" + 1 /16" clearance around theframe. Fasten unit into opening in the closed and locked position, making sure that fasteners arescrewedinstraightinordertoavoidtwistingorbowingoftheframe. Make sure that sill is straight andlevel. Check operation of unit before any and all fasteners are set.
Use # 8 sheet metal or wood screws with a minimum of 1" penetration into the framing (stud). Place firstscrews (two at each comer) 3" from end of fin. For positive and negative DPs (design pressures) up to35, do not exceed 24" spacing of additional screws. For DPs from 35.1 to 50, do not exceed 18". Installoadbearingshimadjacenttoeachanchor. Use shim where space exceeds 1/16"..

Stop & Using the pre -punched installation holes in window jambs as a drill guide. drill 1/8" holes into mullions.
Stop J& Attach windows to mullion using # 8 x 2 1/2"" sheet metal screws (not Included) through drilled bottom holes
shown below and # 8 x 1 1/2" screws in drilled top holes.. To avoid jamb distortion, do not overtighten screws.
Stop L Caulk any voids to prevent any leakage.
