Posts and rails for chain link fence shall be Schedule 40 galvanized steel pipe conforming to ASTMA-120. Pipe shall be a minimum of the following sizes: a. DEMOLITION PLAN A F 19220 GENERAL NOTES 1. Materials and construction methods for streets and storm drainage construction shall be in accordance with the Florida Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, 1977, or the latest revised thereof and supplemental specifications thereto. A. Streets shall be constructed of 12"compacted subgrade to 950 of Max. density per ASTM D-1557, 8" soil cement base (alternate bids requested) with 1-3/4" of Type S-I asphaltic concrete. B. All pipe noted on the plans as RCP shall be reinforced concrete pipe Class III with rubber gasket joints. If requested, in lieu of concrete pipe, the contractor may submit alternate prices based on the use of "Smooth -Flow" corrugated metal pipe. The pipe shall be fully bituminous coated on the exterior and lined to completely cover and fill the inside corrugations.'' Corrugated metal pipes shall be of gages as follows: 18"-48" - 16 gage; 54" - 14 gage; 60 -66" 12 gage.; 72" - 10 gage; 78"-84" - 8 gage. Bands for joining corrugated pipe shall: be equal to "ARMCO GASKETED HUGGER BAND" and shall specifically meet the following requirements: Bands for connecting welded HEL-COR shall conform to the requirements outlined in ASTM Designation A-444 for chemistry, weight of galvanizing and permissible variations in dimensions. In addition, bands shall be. .064" thick minimum, 10-1/2" wide minimum, and shall be drawn together by two 1/2" bolts through the use of a bar and strap suitably welded to the band. The pipe shall have at least two annular corrugations rolled into each end and the band shall engage each pipe end with one matching annular corrugation. The other corrugation in each pipe end shall be fitted with a gasket. Gaskets shall be the O-Ring type and shall conform to Section 3 of ASTM Specification C-443. The gaskets shall have the following cross -sectional diameters for the given sizes of pipe: Pipe sizes 12"-66", chord diameter 13/16"; pipe sizes 72"-96", chord diameter 7/8". C. All radii at intersections shall be 30' to its back side unless otherwise shown. 2. Sanitary Sewer System: All sanitary sewer pipe shall be extra strength clay pipe conforming to ASTM C-700 with ASTM C-425 Joints. If requested and permitted, P.V.C. sewer pipe conforming to ASTM D-3034 SDR 35 will be considered an equal alternate to E.S.C.P. Installation of P.V.C. sewer pipe shall conform to ASTM D-2321. See ASTM C-12 latest edition for construction methods, except for backfilling which will be as shown on the Standard Sanitary Detail Sheet, (S-8). A lateral separation of at least 10' shall be maintained between water and sewer lines. When water and sewer lines cross with less than 18" vertical separation, the clay line shall be encased in concrete or the sewer shall be case iron pipe for a distance of 10' either side of the crossing. In laying out the sanitary sewer in the field, the Contractor shall use the station offsets or property line offsets for locating the sanitary sewer manholes and the flow line elevations given on the Plan and Profile Sheets. In the event of any minor differences in actual lengths of the sanitary sewer lines between manholes from those shown on the Plans, the Contractor shall adjust the grades as required. Complete "as -built" information relative to invert and rim elevations and line and service locations shall be accurately recorded, and the information submitted to the Engineer on legibly marked -up drawings prior to final inspection of work. Laterals shall be located from centerline of rim of nearest downstream manhole. Infiltration testing of the sanitary sewer system will be required to be performed by the Contractor. Infiltration shall not exceed 300 gallons per day per inch of diameter per mile of length. In the event that groundwater is not encountered during sanitary sewer construction or if the groundwater encountered is not 24" above the top of the pipe, exfiltration testing of the sanitary sewer system will be necessary. The testing will be the responsibility of the Contractor. Exfiltration shall not exceed 300 gallons per day per inch of diameter per mile of length, including manholes. 3. The Contractor shall selectively clear and grub the site, and he shall consult with the Owner prior to removing trees which are not actually in the proposed paving areas or within 3' of the edge of pavement, except if required for safety reasons, in which case their removal shall be determined by the Owner or Engineer or Airport Engineer. In addition, the Contractor shall provide clearing as required for installation of utility and drainage facilities. All materials excavated shall be property of the Owner and shall be disposed of or suitable materials utilized in areas to be filled, as directed by the Owner and/or Engineer on the parcel immediately to the East of this site. 4. Underdrains shall be constructed as o_-scR/BE0 IN THE NOTE' on Sheet 3 of 6 as required to dewater soil and/or help to obtain compaction. Even though underdrains are not shown on the Plans, they may be required during construction, dependent on soil and water conditions encountered. The underdrains shall be either single (one line) or double(two lines) of size, length, and location, as required by the Owner or Engineer in the field during construction. 5. Repair and replacement of all private and public property affected by this wor, shall_ bi r stored to -i condition equal to or better than existed before commencing construction work, unless specifically exempted by the Plans. Cost to be incidental to other construction and no extra compensation to be allowed. 6. Legal surveys, descriptions, easements, boundaries, topography, contours, cross -sections, lot lines, street right- of-way geometry, existing improvements and cultural information, and other horizontal and vertical land surveying information has been furnished to the Engineer by others, and the Engineer assumes no resporisibility for their correctness or accuracy. The proposed paving elevations are shown by strategically -located spot elevations. The water and sewer utility company that will own and operate the systems after construction is the City of Sanford. The Contractor will be expected to meet all requirements of the utility company including advance notification to the utility and the Engineer so that they can witness all required tests of the water and sewer systems. 10. Soil borings and soils engineer services have been provided by UNIVERSAL ENGINEER TESTING COMPANY, Orlando, Florida, and will be provided to the Contractor by that firm upon request. The Engineer assumes no responsibility for their correctness, completeness or accuracy. 11. The location of all existing utilities shown on the Plans have been determined from the best information available, and are given for the convenience of the Contractor. Fire Hydrants shall conform to the latest edition of AWWA-C-SO2 and shall be furnished complete with wrench and other appurtenances. Manufacturer's Certification of Compliance with AWWA C-502 and tests listed therein will be required. All hydrants shall.be of the breakable type, with the breakable section located slightly above the finish ground line. Hydrants shall agree in hose thread size with those now in use in the present water system, if applicable. Hydrants must have oil reservoir,or other statisfac- tory device above the water line to afford lubrication to all working parts of the hydrant each time the hydrant is operated. Hydrants shall be of the "O"-ring construction type. All hydrants must be provided with bronze nozzles, with caps and chains. Hydrants shall have a 6" mechanical joint base shoe, two 22" hose nozzles, and one pumper nozzle. The main valve shall have.a 54" valve opening. The hydrant shall have a positive operating drain valve so located so as to drain all water from the stand pipe when the main valve is closed. Hydrants are to be installed with suitable bury or extensions so that the finish ground line is at the point indicated by the manufacturer on the barrel so that nozzles are at a suitable height for attachment of hoses. The direction of opening of the main valve shall conform to that of existing hydrants in the system if applicable. Otherwise, they shall be opened by turning the operating nut counterclockwise. CONSTRUCTION METHODS: ..lateral separation of at least 10' shall be maintained between water and sanitary sewer lines. When water and sewer lines cross with less than 18" vertical separation the clay -sewer line shall be encased in concrete or cast iron pipe used in -lieu of clay pipe for a distance of 10' either side of the crossing. Minimum cover over all pipe shall be 36" to finish grade. Complete "As Built" information relative to location of all valves, fittings, mains and services, shall be submitted to the Engineer prior to final inspection of the work. DISINFECTION AND TESTING: All pipe shall be Tisinfected in accordance with AWWA Standard C-601. Cast iron pipe shall be installed and tested (leakage and pressure) in accordance with AWWA Standard D-600. Asbestos cement pipe shall be installed and tested (leakage and pressure) in accordance with AWWA Standard C-h03. P.V.C. pipe shall be installed according to manufacturer's recommendations and tested in accordance with Asbestos cement Pipe Standard C-603. The Contractor shall provide at his own expense all necessary test pumping equipment, water, water meters, pressure gages, and other equipment, material and facilities required for all hydrostatic and leakage testing. THRUST BLOCKS: All plugs, caps, tees, bends, fire hydrants, valves, etc., shall be provided with thrust blocks. For thrust block construction details, refer to "Standard Water Details" as shown on Sheet S-6.
