All of the paint spray booths built here at Viking Spray Booths are
in accordance with the NFPA-33, the national code governing paint
spray booths,
In 1975, Viking Spray Booth went to.the UL Laboratory in Santa Clara,
California to understand the UL requirements regarding testing and
approval. We were informed that the UL lables can only be issued
on items.that are tested in the laboratory in its entirety and can
be shipped to the customers as a unit. Items that must be assembled
in the field or at other locations are not able to receive UL lables..
All, paint spray booth manufacturers, including Viking Spray Booth, has
UL listings on the motors, lights, switches, and other purchased components.
Sincerely,

A RP Paint Arrestor bank is easily
assembled by riveting together the num-
ber of holding frames (#1) required for
a specific installation. When the riveting
is completed, the bank is put into place
and secured. Any bypass space is
blanked off with sheet metal.
To assemble the modules, a down-
stream (exhaust) Snap -In Grid (#2) is
placed in each holding frame (#1).
A Paint Arrestor (#3) is then placed

is installed to complete the installation.
A single wire Snap -In Rod is available
for placement horizontally near the top
across the face of the upstream Paint
Arrestor when using the High Capacity
Paint Arrestor.
Easy to service
Only the front Paint Arrestor is discardec
when it becomes loaded with paint.
Replacement of the rear Paint Arrestor
is necessary only at extended intervals
When the rear pad shows signs of load-
ing, it can be moved to the front anc
a new Paint Arrestor positioned at the
rear. This simple procedure assure -
maximum service life with minimurr
labor. Loaded or "used" Paint Arrestor,,
should be stored in a water -filled con
tainer until disposed of in accordanc
with appropriate EPA regulations rE

Roll tsoom ®esiIN
A popular growing concept in booth de-
sign for all types of production applica-
tions and finishes incorporates Paint
Arrestor material in roll form. It's particu-
larly well suited for high production booths
because of the substantial labor savings
involved in changing 40" wide strips of
roll material rather than smaller modular
booth pads. This material is available in
40" widths and can be cut to desired
height to fit the individual booth. The booth
is quite simple to assemble by using stan-
dard gridwork with 4" square openings
welded to a steel frame support. This
gridwork is cut as you see in the illustra-
tion utilizing two strips of spikes on 4"
centers for hanging the material. Change-
over is quickly and easily accomplished
by merely replacing each roll strip with
new material.
Performance Information
Any overspray collection system should be evaluated from a
total performance standpoint. There are three important con-
siderations. First, efficiency is the ability to remove paint
particulate from the exhaust air before it reaches the stack.
Another very important consideration is resistance to air-
flow. This is the amount of energy used to move the required
air through the system. Finally, the holding capacity is the
amount of overspray that can be retained and held during
the serviceable life of the product. There are paint arrestors
available that are 99%+ efficient and have very low resis-
tance to airflow. Therefore, they operate with minimum energy

requirements and have a long service life because they
retain a significant volume of overspray before changing is
necessary.
All of the performance information shown was obtained
using equipment similar to that incorporated by the American
Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engi-
neers (ASHRAE) in evaluating performance of air cleaning
devices. Detailed information on the equipment, the testing
procedure, and test results are available by writing for Reprint
No. 4259.
Clean Paint Arrestor Resistance vs Airflow
All performance figures were obtained using representative current
industry coatings in an air atomizing gun with two 20" x 20" x 1 " pads
in tandem at a face velocity of 200 FPM. Performance will vary with
coatings, application procedure, airflow, ambient conditions, etc.
PAINT ARRESTORS
HOW t0 Specify Paint overspray collection system to be composed of 20" x 20"
modules or 40" wide rolls. Each module to consist of a holding frame, two (2) supporting
wire grids, and two (2) overspray pads. Rolls to have 4" square support gridwork on steel
frames. Overspray collectors to be composed of multiple layers of slit and expanded fire -
retardant Kraft varying in pattern from coarse at the intake to fine at the exhaust. The
high efficiency Paint Arrestors to have polyester backing for maximum efficiency.
Fire -retardant Kraft to comply with National Bureau of Standards Voluntary Product
Standard PS46-71.
Overspray collectors to conform to standards listed in the National Fire Protection
Bulletin No. 33, and approved as a Class 2 Filter by Underwriter's Laboratories.
Overspray collectors to be RP Paint Arrestors or equal. Spra-Gard is a registered trade
name for RP Paint Arrestors.
