Clear Mr. Wynn:
I have inspected the above referenced locAtion regarding occupancy separation
construction and find that: The demising wall to the west is 811 concrete or
concrete block backed up by a similar wall on the exterior of'A.the abutting
building which provides a 3 hour fire resistance rating accourding to.S. STD.
BLD Code Appendix B table 3 page B-11. Similarly, the Eastern wall between
the space and adjacent corridor appears to be 811 concrete block with a gypsum
finish on both sides which according to "Appendix B" constitutes a 2 hour or
more fire rating.
The ceiling/floor structure above this space appears to be of varied types of
construction including concrete on metal deck and wood floor over wood joists,
with a suspended acoustical the ceiling over the entire space. Of this
construction that which appears to be the lesser of resistance ratings .does
seem to comply with Appendix B Table 7 Item D, page B45 for a one hour rating -
however the ceiling tile has not been established non-combustible and there do
seem to be a few minor broaches where the floor system has not been completely
draft -stopped. In view of the continued use of this space as a separate
occupancy within this building over the past number of years, and the con-
struction observed (noted previously) it is assumed there is the one hour
required separation between this space and those above.
The North and South walls of this space are exterior non -abutting walls and do
not therefore require rated construction for occupancy separation.
