AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA
AMENDING CHAPTER 17 MOTOR VEHICLES AND
TRAFFIC OF THE SANFORD CODE TO DECLARE AN
INTENT AND PURPOSE, TO RESTRICT MOTOR VEHICLE
AND BOAT TRAILER PARKING AT THE SANFORD
RIVERFRONT PROJECT, TO PROVIDE FINES,
SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY
OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: Intent and Purpose: The City Commission of
the City of Sanford, Florida, finds and declares that the
provisions of this ordinance are enacted for the following
reasons:
a. To promote traffic safety and the safety of
children and other pedestrians near the lakefront and marina;
b. To forestall dangers arising from the blocking of
fire lanes, hydrants, and other facilities required by emergency
vehicles, both in reaching victims and in transporting them to
hospitals;
c. To facilitate the movement of traffic in the event
of accidents or other disasters;
d. To promote efficiency and funds for the maintenance
of streets, parking lots, and boat ramp facilities near the
lakefront and marina; and
e. To promote the peace, comfort, convenience, and
welfare of all citizens of the City.
SECTION 2: Motor Vehicle p.arking Restricted. No boat
trailer with or without a motor vehicle attached shall be parked
in an area designated for motor vehicle parking at the Sanford
Riverfront Project.
SECTION 3: Trailer Parking Restricted. No motor
vehicle without a boat t~ailer attached shall be parked in an
area designated for boat trailer parking at the Sanford
Riverfront Project.
SECTION 4: Fines for Violation. Fines for parking in
violation of sections 2 and 3 above at Sanford Riverfront Project
in the ~o~t of $50.00.
SECTION 5: If any section or portion Of a section of
this Ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or
unconstitutional, it shall not be held to impair the validity,
force or effect of any other section or part of this ordinance.
SECTION 6: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith be and the sue are hereby revoked.
SECTION 7: That this ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon its passage and adoption.
