AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
DETERMINING THAT $1,068,082.00 IS THE AMOUNT
NECESSARY TO BE RAISED BY TAXATION IN THE CITY
OF SANFORD, FLORIDA FOR THE FISCAL YEAR, 1980-
1981 FOR THE ORDINARY PURPOSES FOR THE OPERATION
OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, AND FURTHER
DETERMINING THAT THE ANNUAL TAX LEVY NECESSARY
TO RAISE SAID AMOUNT SHALL BE 4.867 MILLS FOR THE
FISCAL YEAR, 1980-19~1, PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY,
CONFLICTS, AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
W~{EREAS, a determination has been made as to the amount
of money that will be necessary to be raised by taxation in
the City of Sanford, Florida, for the fiscal year 1980-1981;
and,
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 18-E adopted by the 1980 session of
the Florida Legislature makes provision for the City of San-
ford, Florida to adjust its adopted millage rate if the taxable
value of the real property within the City of Sanford, Florida,
as certified, is at variance with the taxable value shown on
the tax assessment roll, as extended; and,
WHEREAS, the millage rate set forth herein will be increased
in order to raise the necessary funds needed for the operation
of the City of Sanford, Florida for the fiscal year 1980-1981,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY
OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the amount determined necessary to be
raised by taxation in the City of Sanford, Florida, for the
year 1980~1981 for the ordinary purposes of the municipality
is the sum of $1,068,082.00.
SECTION 2: That the millage for the year 1980-1981 to be
assessed upon each dollar of the assessed valuation of all the
taxable property, except homesteads to the extent that the laws
of the State of Florida provide for various homestead exemptions.
within the corporate limits of the City of Sanford, Florida, is
hereby fixed at 4.867 mills, to b~ allocated as follows:
Department of General Government, 4.867 mills.
SECTION 3: That there shall be and is hereby levied for
the fiscal year 1980-1981 upon each dollar of the assessed val-
uation of all taxable property, except homesteads to the extent
that the laws of the State of Florida provide for various home-
stead exemptions, within the corporate limits of the City of
Sanford, Florida, a tax of 4.867 mills for the purpose of reali-
zing a sum sufficient to meet and defray the necessary and
ordinary running and operating expenses of the City of Sanford0
Florida, for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 1980 and
ending September 30, 1981.
SECTION 4: At such time as notification is received from
the property appraisers office of Seminole County, Florida, of
the aggregate change in the assessment roll, the City Manager
is hereby authorized to adjust the millage rate adopted herein
in accordance with the terms and provisions of Senate Bill 18-E,
adopted by the 1980 session of the Florida Legislature.
SECTION 5: If any section or portion of a section of
this Ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitu-
tional, it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the
validity, force or effect of any other section or part of
this Ordinance.
SECTION 6: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith, be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 7: That the effective date of this Ordinance
shall be retroactive to October 1, 1980.
