and cost-effective power supply available today. It delivers 6 amps of
notification appliance circuit power — what you need to drive power-hungry components like ADA notification
appliances. The 5495's advanced microprocessor design is years ahead of the competition. Its switch mode
power supply design is up to 50% more efficient than competitive linear mode power supplies. And, ADA
retrofits are easier and less expensive with the 5495 because it integrates into current systems without the
costly investment in new components.
For the most sophisticated and cost-effective notification power supply available, you need Firepower 5495. Call
Silent Knight today for more information at 1-800-446-6444.

Connection to Local Fire Control
Firepower 5495 may be connected to a
local fire control which utilizes Class A
or Class B type notification circuits
operating between 9 and 32 VDC. The
control panel's notification circuit is
connected to one of the inputs on the
5495. The control panel's notification
circuit end -of -line resistor is also
connected across two terminals on the
Firepower 5495, which provides
supervision between the 5495 and the
fire control panel. Polarized audible
and/or visual notification devices are
then connected to the 5495 signal
circuits using the 4.7W end -of -line
resistors provided. Since the 5495
draws very little power from the control,
it is possible to connect one Firepower
5495 to each notification circuit on the
control panel and still provide full
supervision of the notification circuits all
the way back to the control panel.

Overview The ESL 500 Series self -diagnostic, 2 and 4-wire photoelectric
smoke detectors are the industry's first conventional direct -wire
smoke detectors with analog features such as drift compensation
mull -criteria detection and remote maintenance/trouble reporting
CleanMe) on the 2-wire.
The 500 Series continually monitor their own sensitivity and
operational status, andprovide a visual andremote trouble
condition ifthey drift out of the sensitivity range or rail internal
diagnostics. This meets NFPA 72field sensitivity testing
requirements withoutthe need for externalmeters. The
521 has a unique feature enabling It to send a signal CleanMe)
to the ESL 505 module (sold separately) when it has drilled
outside of itsLit Listed sensitivity range or has failed its internal
diagnostic test. The 505 is an interface module that will signal
M panels via relays when the 2-wire 500are dirty. Several control
panels have the CleanMe software built in, eliminating the
need for the 505 module. When CleanMe is not desired, simply
leave the switch on the 2-wire series off and itwill work
as a normal 2-wire detector. CleanMe allows the installer time
to schedule a service call and avoid a false alarm. Time between
cleaning detectors is dramatically increased because of
the 5001s built-in drift compensation. This feature, usually only
available in analog systems, allows the detector to automatically adjust
its sensitivity over time as it becomes dirty, increasing dust
life. And when
the 500 Series has told YOU thatcleaning is necessary, it's
literallya snap with ESL's patented field replaceable optical chamber.
The multi -
criteria model 50OXT photoelectric smokedetector/fixed rate of
rise heatdetector includes fast response algorithms for a quick response
to both flaming and smoldering fires. Fast response algorithms
allow the heat detectors to work intelligently together with
the photoelectric smokedetector As soon as the heat sensor
detects a rapid rise intemperature the sampling rate increases to

Series RS Strobes and New Features
RSS Non-Sync/Sync Strobes
Enhancements
Wheelock's Series RS Strobes and Series RSS Non-Sync/Sync Strobes have been enhanced with
Lower Current Draw and the Series RSS has ZERO Inrush while maintaining their outstanding
performance, reliability and cost-effectiveness In meeting or exceeding the latest requirements of NFPA
72 (National Fire Alarm Code) 1996, ANSI 117.1 (American National Standard for Accessible and Usable
Building and Facilities), and UL Standard 1971 (Signaling Devices for the Hearing Impaired). RS/RSS
Strobe Appliances, when properly specified and installed in accordance with NFPA/ANSI Standards, can
provide the Equivalent Facilitation allowed under ADA Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG General
Section 2.2) by meeting or exceeding the illumination which results from ADA's strobe intensity guidelines
of 75 candela at 50 feet. This is an illumination of 0.030 lumens per square foot.
Wheelock's Series RS/RSS Strobes employ an integral Patented Strobe Mounting Plate that makes it
easy to mount to a variety of backboxes. The strobes can be mounted to single -gang, double -gang,
4" square, 100 mm European backboxes, or the SHBB backbox (Order Code 7254) for surface
mounting. An attractive cover plate is provided for a clean, finished appearance on all models.
Wheelock's Series RS Strobes are available with 15 and 15/75 candela intensities for Wall mount only
and non -sync applications.
The Series RSS Strobes NOW include Non -Sync and Sync in ONE appliance. The SM or DSM Sync
Module must be used to achieve Sychronizat/on of the strobe. Synchronized strobes can eliminate
possible restrictions on the number of strobes in the field of view. Wheelock's synchronized strobes offer
an easy way to comply with ADA recommendations concerning photosensitive epilepsy. The
strobe options for the Series RSS are 15, 15/75, 30, 75 and 110 candela intensities for Wall mount and
15, 30, 75 and 100 candela intensities for Ceiling mount applications.
